ECSO: Cantonment Man Robs Convenience Store, Chokes K-9, Fights With Deputies
October 18, 2016
A Cantonment man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly robbing a Mobile Highway convenience store, fighting with deputies and choking a K-9.
Napoleon Bonaport Grandison, age 44 of Webb Street, was charged with aggravated assault, two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, robbery with a firearm, two counts of resisting an officer with violence and giving a false name to law enforcement. He remains in the Escambia County Jail with bond set at $296,000.
Grandison allegedly entered the Circle K at 5050 Mobile Highway early Sunday morning and robbed the clerk of $92 after placing his hand under his shirt as if he had a weapon.
Deputies caught up with Grandison a short distance away. He allegedly pushed two deputies off of him as they attempted to detain him. He is also accused of kick and striking a third deputy and physically placing his arm around the neck of and choking Escambia County K-9 Alek. The K-9’s handler reported that he heard and saw his dog choking.
Deputies were able to recover $84 of the missing funds. Grandison was treated and released from Baptist Hospital before being taken into custody.

David Huie Green for President. He’s the only one out there with any sense at all!
REGARDING:
“David Huie Green you better watch your head!”
I just tried.
My eyeballs don’t stretch that far.
It’s even harder than watching your back (I can see the back of my shoulder, but that’s about it).
David for flexibility
David Huie Green you better watch your head! Our incoming politicians are hell bent to saturate our country with this mindset .
He fought the dog…and the dog won.
Waterloo jokes aside, he is lucky that the K9 did not rip his throat out.
@ Mr. Green: Ooh, you cut me to the bone! LOL!
REGARDING:
“The one thing they get right in the Middle East: you get caught robbing or stealing, they start with your hands, first offense, & end with your head, second offense. Not much of that type of crime over there”
Nah, they don’t have it right.
They’re just doing it for fun. They permit rape and murder but lop off hands for stealing a cookie. They enslave little girls and/or shoot them for trying to learn. They crucify Christians for being Christians. That isn’t justice.
Look back and ask yourself if you ever did something you shouldn’t.
If you have and you like their system, lop off your own hand or head,
If you’ve never done one wrong thing, ask if anyone else has ever accused you falsely. Now imagine living under a system where his word is counted and yours is discounted (as an unbeliever).
David for keeping your head
To fact checker: Anne is spot on. We are losing deputies at an alarming rate after gaining the desired experience other agencies want. They compensate dearly for that experience. While you state “we are the poorest”, this is misinformation. Our taxes are nothing compared to like sized counties with fewer problems. The tax rolls are the same as in 1988. What business in this county is operating on the same income as 1988? None. Our deputies and their supervisors are the lowest paid when compared to like sized counties and law enforcement agencies. We can’t keep them. The county pays to train them then they leave. And rightfully so. You would leave too for a $10k+ increase to do the exact same job. The Pensacola Police Department pays their supervisors $20k more to supervise fewer employees. http://www.fdle.state.fl.us/cms/CJSTC/Publications/CJAP/CJAP-2014/Description-of-Process.aspx
To Anne: You may want to check the facts on your “friend”. Do a public records request and see the pay increases or just look at the board minutes for approved pay increases. Look at the training policy. Deputies are required to do continuing education, just like any other licensed profession. Other counties in Florida pay more since they’re not one of the poorest counties with low tax revenue. I too carry, but its not a county problem it’s a countRy problem. While everyone else is concerned about the officers and the K-9, you’re too busy complaining.
Thank you ESCO officers and K-9 Alek for the quick response and aprehending this criminal off the streets.
Hang in there Alek, they will get you a spiked collar someday & nobody will be choking you ever again!
The one thing they get right in the Middle East: you get caught robbing or stealing, they start with your hands, first offense, & end with your head, second offense. Not much of that type of crime over there, but I guess it could be bcuz they are at war with each other most of the time.
Not sure if the dog got him or if the deputies made him a member of the turban society of noncompliance idiots. Either way he got what he deserved.
My gosh. Is the K-9 ok? If someone did that to my dog….I don’t care who you are….you don’t hurt my dog. I can’t stand idiots like that… if ya don’t want a K-9 to get after ya…. don’t run, get on the ground and comply. Don’t hurt the dog. Geez… cruel, heartless, worthless, brainless idiots.
I wonder if this is the same man that robbed the convenience store on July 4, 2016?
Looks like the dog got the best end of that fight…Wonder if the dogs name was Waterloo…
Napoleon, you touch my dog, I break your face! Shame on you.
WEll Napoleon …looks like you just met Waterloo……again…lol
Lone Chief could you make that No Parenting!
I’m guessing the K9 & deputies were ok?
We are NOT as Safe as we once were.
Family friend visiting over weekend from another Florida county used to be a Deputy here in Escambia. He left to take Deputy position in another area because of poor pay and no increase in years, lack of professional advancement opportunities, lack of training and updating of equipment and supplies, and an intimidating administration.
All of that leads to fewer LEO on our streets and longer response times which give the thugs a feeling they can get away with doing bad things and be gone before the deputies arrive. Drugs, are everywhere at every neighborhood in our county.
All I can say is that my family has trained experience and we do carry for personal protection. That is comforting to us but a terrible statement that in our county we have to protect ourselves until our few lawmen can come to help.
God Bless those who try to protect us.
“10-20-LIFE Law”, looks like he will be of the free list for 20 years. GOOD!!
Another fine upstanding citizen that feels entitled to something he didn’t earn. Why work when society owes me
I’m sure the doggie did not appreciate being choked!!! Looks like he took a bite out of crime……… Literally!!
Don’t mess with a man’s dog! Bottom line! GRAND I SON doesn’t quite live up to his name now does he? This one was all on him, you get what ask for!
Jeez, remember when this used to be a cool and relatively safe place to live? If this crap keeps up they need to change some of the hunting rules (ha-ha). Bad seed and lousy parenting I reckon.
Awesome Name!! You just can’t make this stuff up.
HAHA!!!
Looks like he messed around and found out!
Looks like the poor fellow slipped and bumped his head getting in the car. We must be more careful in the future.
