Camp Fire Century Kids Learn About Community Helpers

October 8, 2016

The VPK program at the Camp Fire Century Youth Learning Center learned about “community helpers” this week.

They were visited by nurses from the Escambia County Early Learning Coalition on Monday and had their vision, height and weight checked.

On Wednesday, the Century Correctional Institution K-9 team visited with the children. Officer Jamie Sanders told the children about their K-9 program and what their dogs can do. The children were able to pet a dog, sit in the dog truck and hear the siren.

Friday, Century Mayor Freddie McCall visited with the Camp Fire kids. McCall explained to the children what a mayor does and how he helps people in the community. The mayor then read a book to the children and gave out plenty of hugs.
