The dealer who sold me my first motorcycle, in 1964, gave me two pieces of excellent advice:
1. Ride like everybody out there in anything bigger than you is a homicidal maniac out to get you, and keep a running index in your mind, second by second, of where you’re going to go to get out of his way.
2. Never put your motorcycle in a space you can’t put a Buick.
These are general comments responding to the background issue raised here about motorcycle safety. The are NOT to imply that the motorcycle rider did anything wrong. I know nothing of the accident that photos don’t show, and they do not show responsibility at all. My comments are made to emphasize the all we motorcyclists are the primary person responsible for our own safety, riding is a risky business, and we must never rely on the other person looking twice for us — because 90% of them won’t even look once..
I was the first person on the scene. And seen everything.. Thank God the motorcyclist will be OK. He was talking and alert . He had some injuries but nothing life threatening. Seeing this happened before my eyes and not knowing what I was gonna be running up to with this poor guy on the ground definitely makes me wanna spread the word that people definitely need to pay more attention to these motorcycles… The older gentleman driving the other car said he had picked up a call on his cell phone… People plz be aware of all your surroundings when driving and poor guy could have lost his life because someone was using a cell phone… Thank God this man will be OK. This best part about it is a random lady kneeled down beside us helping the guy and said a prayer for him, what and awesome lady…
I ride nearly everyday and I see more and more people not paying attention to the road. Wether it be talking to someone next to them or on the phone and sorry to say texting or looking at that phone young to old it’s crazy. I know accidents do happen
It just seems we have had more motorcycles go down this year than usual. I pray my brother is ok. I pray the lady is ok. I also pray the cage riders please keep your head in what your doing. Every thing van can wait till your sitting still.
Dang! Hope that rider is OK.
Please, look up from your phones and just drive ladies and gents. (Not saying this is what happened. Just asking)
Praying for the rider.
