Dorothy Marie Gindl Lambert Casey

September 7, 2016

Dorothy Marie Gindl Lambert Casey was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, nurse and community spitfire. Dorothy passed away on September 4, 2016, at the age of 95 in Cantonment.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Louis Lambert in 1970 and was blessed to find love again with her second husband, Charles Casey, who passed away in 2012.

She is survived by her son, Skip Lambert (June); daughter, Brenda Sowinski (Jim); grandsons, Chad Lambert (Janet) and Kevin Lambert (Susan); granddaughters, Bridget Davidson (Bob) and Julie Jenkins (Brandon); grandson, Brian Sowinski (Amy), and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Frances Gindl; and her sisters, Mildred Anderson and Mary Pembroke.

Dorothy was born on June 12, 1921, in Barrineau Park. She lived in the Barrineau Park area almost all of her life. Dorothy was a Registered Nurse who worked for private physicians before taking a position at the St. Regis Paper Company. She retired in 1986 from the Champion Paper Company after 35 years of employment.

She has been a driving force for improvement and development of the area. Dorothy never said I won’t or I can’t. She is a founding member of Barrineau Park Historical Society, served as secretary of International Paper Company retirees. She has managed and maintained the Barrineau Park Colony Cemetery. Because of her nursing profession, she has been the community nurse. She did not ask for the job, it just seemed the right thing to do. She never turned anyone away who needed help. She made herself available morning, noon, and night. Most of us will always remember driving by in our cars to see her picking up trash along the highway and encouraging others to take pride in their community. If you truly want to honor Dorothy’s memory, keep your community beautiful by picking up trash along the highway.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Barrineau Park Colony Cemetery Fund, P.O Box 685, Cantonment, FL 32533, the Barrineau Park Historical Society, P.O Box 508, Molino, FL 32577, or the St. Elizabeth Church Hall Remodeling Fund, 303 Rocky Avenue, Cantonment, FL 32533.

Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends of the Barrineau Park and Molino Community.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 8, 2016, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at Barrineau Park Colony in Barrineau Park.

Faith Chapel Funeral Home North is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dorothy Casey’s INTERVIEW from early 2016 is available at the Molino Museum for the public to enjoy her memories of The 2016 Traveling Smithsonian’s ‘The Way We Worked’ presentation in Molino. Caleb Dennis & myself were fortunate enough to have carried out (Filmed) many interviews of various folks that fit this program. Also many thanks to several members of the Molino Mid-County Historical Society for believing in us to capture this project. Mrs. Casey will be missed greatly in our community. Anyone interested in these priceless interviews please visit the museum located in the old Molino School on Hwy 95A in Molino. Thank you

A great lady and 4h supporter. She came to my dads home in Cottage Hill to assist my mom deliver my sister Sue. She was well liked by all and the St Regis workers especially liked her., but her efforts and support of 4H will always be in my memory of Dorothy.
