Gaetz, Provost Advance In Search For New UWF President

August 17, 2016

State Sen. Don Gaetz, R-Niceville, is among 19 candidates who will be invited to the next step in the interview process to become president of the University of West Florida.

Gaetz, a former Senate president who earlier served six years on the Okaloosa County School Board and six years as the county’s schools superintendent, was among 83 people who applied for the position, including 11 who filed resumes late Monday.

Also among the 19 candidates is Martha Saunders, who has been provost and executive vice president at the university since 2013. Saunders previously served as president at the University of Southern Mississippi and as chancellor at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

A presidential search committee will invite the remaining candidates to appear for face-to-face meetings on August 29 and 30. The committee expects to approve a list of three finalists on September 6, and the school’s Board of Trustees will select the replacement for retiring President Judy Bense on September 15.

Don’t worry people……this is just a stepping stone for Gaetz. Next up he will throw his hat in the Governor’s race. They will not stop and will continue to get richer every step of the way. While we in the northern portion of the panhandle will be ignored. #nomoregaetz

Except JJ, as someone has already pointed in the last news article, Gaetz has two degrees…one of which is a master’s degree.

    Sure he did. Anyone surprised?
You know Collier Merrill and Lewis Bear will see to it that he gets the job. The good ole boy system at work in Escambia County!

Oh, BTW, Gaetz only has a grade school education. Merrill lobbied for, and somehow got passed, the Doctorate requirement to be done away with. How about that? They knew a few years ago that they were going to put their boy in that spot.

So, your kids will now go to a State University, which will be ran by a politician with a grade school education. What does that say for the candidates that worked so hard for their degrees and careers?

Sad, sad, sad!! And now, little Gaetz wants to step right in and take up where daddy left off.

Come on, people! Let’s stop this non-sense!

Who are the members of the “search committee”? May be interesting to see who is on it.
