Firefighters Save Cantonment Home

August 30, 2016

Quick work by firefighters saved a Cantonment home early Tuesday morning. They were able to quickly extinguish an apparent stove fire about 2 a.m. in the 9900 block of Bristol Park Road. The Cantonment, Ensley and Bellview stations of Escambia Fire Rescue responded to the blaze. Photo by Kristi Barbour for NorthEscambia.com, click to enlarge.

I totally agree with Kevin Jacobs. Raising taxes from $75 per dwelling two years ago to $125.33 is a little extreme. It seems to me that there have been enough houses and apartments built to cover the costs for the fire tax.

Didn’t hear that right? A volunteer truck with 5 certified firemen beat the paid guys there? Isn’t this a career district? Why aren’t we attracting more of those guys instead of raising taxes every few months? Everyone download the scanner app on your phone. Bellview VFD has been running strong since at least Friday morning. Let’s rebuild the volunteer service and stop raising taxes.
