Escambia Man Charged In Death Of Toddler Now Facing Second Charge

August 11, 2016

A second charge of aggravated child abuse has been filed on an Escambia County  man arrested Monday after police responded to a residence and found a child not breathing.

Alonzo Thompkins, 26, was charged with aggravated child abuse on Monday after a two-year-old male died.

Now, he is facing a second charge after an investigation determined a three-year-old child in the residence had multiple bruises on her body and a broken collar bone.

Police were dispatched to the residence around 9 a.m. Monday after the children’s mother returned home and found her two-year-old son was not breathing. Thompkins had been left alone with the two-year-old male, who was the son of Thompkins’ girlfriend.

The investigation is continuing.

This disregard for human life began when our laws said it was okay to kill unborn babies, It will only get worse.

Finally found a story where everyone is on the same page. I agree with all of you. The sooner we change out our justice system, the better the decisions. Our system is currently corrupt with lies and favoritism.

    Brett and Donna

Feel the same way, but I would like to see it go all the way to congress,4 years and done, enough of life long politicians. The longer they stay the more corrupt they get.

Alonzo’s day is coming. He will get beat up in prison and left there to suffer pain from his wounds. If he lives through it. That’s if the court system is in right order when it comes time for his trial. Too many people are being let loose to repeat offenses over and over. Clean out this judicial system in Escambia County and vote in new people.

Yea a murder charge and a quick trip to death row. No excuse for harming a child, and the second child beat up that bad hard to believe the didn’t know it was going on or didn’t care.

I guess the important thing to mom was to have a man around the house. The little girl needs to be removed from the house and placed where she can learn men are never supposed to be mean to nyone.

Two charges of aggravated child abuse when one little boy lost his life. Why is this not considered murder?

I hope the mother of these children is under investigation. If she knew him she had to know is temperment. People need to wake up and take responsibility for their own children. This is so sad for these babies to have had to suffer.
