August 31, 2016

One person was critically injured when they slammed their vehicle into a Gonzalez barber shop early Wednesday morning.

The driver hit Purvis’ Barber Shop on Old Chemstrand Road near the corner of Highway 29 just before 2:30 a.m. The driver was transported by Escambia County EMS to a Pensacola hospital as a “trauma alert”.

The business hopes to be open Wednesday, if possible.

The accident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. Further details have not been released.

Thanks for the prayers that people with common sense used, instead of judging. To everyone that found humor in this critical accident, may
God have mercy on you. The samething that makes you laugh, will make you cry. Be careful what comes off your tongue, just like my daddy used to say, “don’t let your mouth overload your butt”.

The situation is serious, but laughter is the best medicine. Hoping for rapid and complete recovery.

I think it’s simply ridiculous that you people could make jokes at a time like this. You should be bowing your heads in prayer. Remember, God has a sense if humor as well. It was Mr. FLOYD today, but it could very well be you tomorrow. The Bible states that, he, who laughs first…. Laughs last. May God be with this young man, for a full speedy recovery and blessings to his family , friends and all that are concerned about him.

Why does ANYONE find this funny? Prayers for the driver and his family.

Yet another inanimate object hit. When will this stop? Escambia County has got to be the worst in this arena. Shopping centers, video stores, barber shop, bingo hall, and folks homes have all fallen victim to this fatal flaw in our judgement…..FATIGUED DRIVING!! Fatigued or tired driving is just as dangerous as drunk/intoxicated driving. Drivers need to know the signs or this will continue to happen!! Hope this young man lives and recovers to be able to recognize the signs once again.

Well what else are you supposed to think when someone runs into the side of a building at 3am?

  7. Michael Weaver on August 31st, 2016 8:01 pm

Well he had to be doing something wrong. The store didn’t just up and run out in front of him.

Prayers for this injured person and their family. This person could have been going to work or leaving work at that time of the morning. Possibly an ill child and going to Walmart for medical needs. No matter when it was and for what reason, this person is seriously injured. That’s right on those old buildings…built tough to last.

This young man was not drinking and it is horrible to make jokes when he is in critical condition. He’s in ICU paralyzed from the waist down and people want to blame and make light of it. That’s simply uncalled for. Think before you speak.

This is my cousin.. & on behalf of our family, we are hurt that you’ll find humor in this situation . His spinal cord is badly bruised, ribs are crushed, he has no feeling from the chest down. As far as the time of morning… HE WAS JUST GETTING OFF WORK!! He can’t talk to tell us exactly what happened, but to automatically assume drugs /alcohol is disrespectful.. what is this was your son?? Brother?? Dad??.. My aunt/his mom is BROKEN! how do you’ll find joy/jokes in that… you’ll are SAD!

I’m with concerned. My first thought is that this may have been a medical emergency and that’s how it happened. I don’t know the story, but I am praying for whoever this was.

People can truly be so ignorant someone was hurt in this accident.because they were out that time of morning does not mean that they were drunk out selling drugs or doing the wrong thing people can go where they want whenever they want to with that being said if you don’t have anything nice to say please just don’t say anything at all praying for the ones that were hurt or involved in the crash

  17. Concerned on August 31st, 2016 1:11 pm

Don’t pass judgments before you know the facts. No he was not drunk. He is in ICU . Instead of jokes. Pray for his recovery. He is someone’s child. How would u feel if it was your child and u read crap like this. Thank God he is Alive

Gotta love getting called in the middle of the night for this. I hope the driver is okay but I know he felt that building bring him to a stop. Those old buildings are buildings are built to last.

    Wow hope they are ok!
I just want to know how you go that far off the road and make that much of a crash on that little strip of road!
