Cops Like Donuts And Coffee, Right? Meet A Little Guy With A Big Heart

August 6, 2016

Escambia County Sheriff’s Office deputies had the chance this week to meet a young man with a giving heart at Gilley’s Country Store in Bratt. Tyler’s mom submitted the photo and wrote the following:

“Today Tyler and I went to our corner store in Bratt where we saw four of Escambia County Sheriff’s Offices finest. Tyler was very excited as he LOVES police officers. He said ‘mom cops’ favorite drink is coffee and their favorite food is donuts’….we both laughed…then he went on to ask if he could use some of his own money to buy the officers some donuts. He picked 4 packs of chocolate donuts. Paid for them and then gave them to the officers. They were all very grateful and very polite. Tyler was so excited that his green hair matched their green uniforms!!! Lol. Tyler thanked them for “keeping the place safe.” And from our family to the ECSO family we thank each of you for your service and putting your lives on the line daily. Be blessed and stay safe out there.”

Honestly, I feel very fortunate to have the quality of officers that we have here in Escambia Co. – compared to some other areas in Florida that I’ve experienced along the way. If you have never attended one of the Citizens Law Enforcement Academy’s that are offered (at the sheriff’s office on Leonard St) about every 2 months I would highly recommend that you check it out! It provides a wonderful glimpse of law enforcement from a whole different perspective! Knowledge is power!! Keep up the superb work and know that you are very appreciated.

Great Job to Tyler’s mom for raising such a respect young man, and thank you to Tyler for thinking of our officers. That one officer in the back also holds a special place in my heart as well my brother in-law.

We really needed this awesome story today! How these officers stay so happy with the dangers they face is a miracle. I agree, Tyler for president!

Tyler has always said he is going to be a cop but has since told me that when he grows up he wants to be a police officer like the officer in the very back of the photo. (We did get his first name but for his safety I will not list it here.) He loved all the officers but for some reason he made a special connection with that particular one. Lol. He has talked about him several times since and also has plans to go visit all of the deputies! Thanks to all of you for being a great role model to our little guy and for inspiring him to go after his dreams too.
