Cash, Drugs Seized As Deputies Make Heroin Bust

August 20, 2016

Two heroin related arrests were made at a local hotel in Escambia County.

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said Alvin Christopher Edwards was selling heroin from the Luxury Suites on Pensacola Boulecard.

Acting on a tip, the ECSO started an investigation and served a search warrant at the hotel. During the search, deputies found over 60 grams of heroin with a street value of $9,500 and over $11,000 in cash.

Edwards girlfriend, Summer Lynn Weaver was also arrested. Weaver was charged with child abuse after investigators witnessed her selling heroin, with a young child watching from less than 5-feet away. She was also charged with conspiracy to traffic heroin. Both Edwards and Weaver were charged with distribution of heroin.

Weaver remained in the Escambia County Jail with bond set at $102,000. Edwards was jailed with bond set at $167,000.

God only knows what the ‘young child’ has witnessed in its life.
Poor baby is all I can think of, how sad that its life has been so terribly impacted.

Hope the child is forever taken away from this crappy excuse for a parent and has a chance to grow and become a great person.

So Sad and all because of D___ Drugs flowing so easily and freely on our streets.
Granddaddy would have taken a whole different course of action on this.
We are NOT Safe now and what does this mess say to our visitors and tourists?
    HELP

    @ Bob C.

In my experience, the stings that happen are the result of watching these “small timers” lead them to the main organizers of the distribution ring. They allow some of this to go on so that they can get an airtight case against the leaders and the followers in the drug ring.

I still say the consumer bears some responsibility. If not one bought the stuff, no one would be selling it. If not this, then something else, I suppose.

    @ Paul

100% Correct that HEROIN is a Huge Problem in OUR county.
It is cheaper than many other drugs and available all over the place.
Have seen drug deals go down right in broad daylight and on the street corners as y family and I sit at a red light.

These two are just the small stuff, the Big Stuff is where investigation and intervention and arrests and prosecution need to be happening. MUCH more going on than these few scattered arrests.

Pray for Escambia County to become a Safer Place to Live.

What a sad life that innocent child had to live, day in and day out. God willing the child will be placed in a loving home.

Heroin is a big problem. Selling it out of a hotel on 29 makes it easier to reach their clients. Hookers.
