Two Motorcyclists Involved In Escambia River Bridge Crash

July 4, 2016

There were no serious injuries in a crash involving at least two motorcycles and possibly a car Sunday night on the Highway 4 Escambia River Bridge just inside Santa Rosa County.

One motorcyclist said he and two others were riding their motorcycles westbound when a car approached them from behind at a high rate of speed. The motorcyclist said the car rear-ended one of the motorcycles, causing one rider to collide with another and a concrete barrier. The driver of the car stopped to check on the riders before fleeing the scene, the motorcyclist said.

Injuries and damage to the motorcycles were both very minor.

The accident remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol; exact details have not yet been released.

The Century Station of Escambia Fire Rescue, Escambia County EMS and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the crash.

To Jay… God Forbid one of your relatives/loved ones ride a motorcycle. If so I hope they remain safe throughout their journey. As far as your rude comment about Motorcyclist being on their own with you, My Husband rides responsibly and most of our friends do too. Some people do ride ridiculously but I don’t think your statement is called for. I believe that is vehicular homicide/manslaughter. God Bless you.

Just because some motorcyclist may have flown past you in that area is NO reason to classify all motorcyclist in the same group. Anyone who hits a motorcyclist and leaves the scene must have something to hide. Wake up we’re not all the same but our lives matter just same as someone in a vehicle.

Naturally it involved a car. No motorcycle ever does no wrong. I’ve seen bikes fly past me on this bridge countless times. Those stickers on cars says (watch out for motorcycles ). Well mine says. (Motorcycle your on your own with me)
