Major Drug Bust In Jay (With Photo Gallery)

July 9, 2016

Local and federal authorities conducted a major meth bust in Jay, with a Century connection, Friday morning.

Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and SWAT units, along with the DEA and the Monroe County (AL) Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 3501 Highway 4 in Jay, a small rental home on the corner of Highway 4 and Luman Shell Road.

Authorities located over 14 ounces of crystal methamphetamine valued over $50,000 along with several assault style weapons, hand guns and caches of ammunition. In addition, several stolen items were located from neighboring counties, according to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Edgardo Xavier Rivera, age 33 of Jay, was taken into custody in the parking lot of a business on North Century Boulevard in Century as he arrived to pay his rent. Authorities also arrested was 35-year old Mariana Solano of Jay at the Jay residence.

Rivera and Solano were both charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription,  methamphetamine trafficking, and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were both booked into the Santa Rosa County Jail with bond set $141,000 each.

A neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous out of fear of  retribution, said she and other neighbors were concerned about activity at the home.

“There are always people coming and going from the house at all times of the day and night,” she said. “And we all felt like something was up by the way they kept the windows and carport blacked out all the time. It just seemed like they really had something to hide.”

    @ Shay
Me and the neighbors have had kept notes on times and tag numbers and descriptions of people who come and go to the drug house.
They were busted a few weeks ago because the guy was beating the woman who lives there and cops came when fight got into the front yard.
Wasn’t a drug bust though just was for the domestic disturbance from the fight.
Everybody hoped it was going to cause the deputies to go in the house and find drugs but didn’t happen.
Been reported for months and nothing being done here.
When we were kids we played in the streets and all that, now we are careful to tell kids to stay away from that yard and be close to home.
Bad times for us who live by the Lord and the Law/

    @George
If these young people had an opportunity to succeed in a good job they would not have had to turn to this type of activity.
That is a bogus statement. I know of people who had great paying jobs selling drugs it’s sometimes a product of up bringing. No daddy and being raised by grandmother. It’s easier than having to work 40 hours a week and not having to pay taxes. The government makes it too easy for people not to work., Look atb all the handouts. Free phones/utilities /rent child care the list goes on.

    @anne

Just because nothing has been done doesn’t mean the s/o hasn’t done anything. Investigations take a while to complete. As my ex(a narc) said once, “we’re around. You just don’t know we are.”

Thanks for all your good stories.

It is good to get these drugs off the street. If these young people had an opportunity to succeed in a good job they would not have had to turn to this type of activity. I hope that society will not throw them away but instead will get them help so they can become productive members of society.

In some states Professional Clean-up/Remediation is mandatory prior to the residence ever being reoccupied. Could run 8 to 10 grand for the owner of the rental property. Testing, tear outs, encapsulation. It could be very harmful to ones health otherwise, especially for children and the elderly.

Gene- No one said anything about instant Justice. Why not make these people work in prison? Grow crops? Raise animals? Perform community projects on a grander scale than they do currently. Allow them to lessen their own burden on the law abiding public.

ok thanx anne they did not say the guns were stolen but maybe they are

  11. anne on July 9th, 2016 1:33 pm

Mike, I think the guns will go back to the owners they were stolen from.

Rental. I feel sorry for the home owner. It is not an easy job to clean those homes. Start with an air vent cleaning company or you will have a K-9 dog staring you down at a traffic light. This isn’t a joke, I had it happen to me at Davis & Creighton after cleaning a rental home where they just smoked the stuff. What a mess! FYI, I must be Anne #2, I don’t live anywhere that house.

RE: Bill: “…must be a better way to deal with these losers.”

Hey Bill, what do you suggest? just kill them on the spot? Beheading? Impale them on a pole in town square? IF you don’t like the rights afforded by the U.S. Constitution, then perhaps you should move to oh say, Syria or Iraq, Maybe then you can enjoy your brand of instant justice.

Shelby – You should contact someone at the Santa Rosa Sheriff’s Dept and also contact Santa Rosa Animal Control immediately. If they went to Santa Rosa shelter, they DO NOT put certain breeds up for adoption. GO THERE and find a supervisor to talk to. I’m guessing it would be the one in Milton at 4451 Pine Forest Rd, Milton, FL 32583. Their number is (850) 983-4680 but calling won’t do much good. Looks like they’re open 9 – 2 today. I doubt you can see the animal involved due to an investigation but you definitely need to take quick action. Someone higher up in the Sheriff’s dept should be able to tell you if they went somewhere else since another county was involved. Best of luck to you.

Good job to all departments involved.

More scumbags off the street, now keep them off with lengthy prison sentences – over 14 ounces of poison – these people are murderers called drug dealers.

No cash? Look out, here comes bail money!

  17. Shelby on July 9th, 2016 10:03 am

There is a drug house just down the road from me with cars coming in at all hours of night and day making a brief stop and driving away. Me and my neighbors have called the Escambia Sheriff Office many times and they say if they don’t see it they can’t do anything about it. Meanwhile the drugs keep being sold and nobody knows what kind of guns and stuff might be in the house.

  21. Bill on July 9th, 2016 7:28 am

do the guns eventually go up for auction?

  25. Shay on July 9th, 2016 4:46 am

I drove by here yesterday as they were getting their gear on. I saw SWAT and local Leo’s there. When I went by a bit later I noticed one of the DEA undercover vehicles there. Knew it had to be drugs. I knew William would have the scoop for inquiring minds. Great job guys!!
