Robbery Suspects Arrested; SWAT Nabs 3 At Hotel, Two Arrested Later

June 18, 2016

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office  has arrested five people in connection with the robbery of a Nine Mile Road gas station.

Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan said one 18-year old adult and two teen juveniles were taken into custody at the Magnuson Inn on Pensacola Boulevard by the ECSO SWAT team and the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force.

The Sheriff’s Office later arrested Ryan Cheney and Michelle Gagne  in the Perdido Key area. He allegedly fired his weapon during the armed robbery of the Raceway Gas Station on Nine Mile Road and Fowler Avenue near Lowes about 8:20 Wednesday night. There were no injuries in that robbery.

Gagne was described as an accomplice by Morgan.

Cheney was charged with robbery, as was 18-year old Hunter Lafoe of St. Laconia, NH. Gagne was being held in the Escambia County Jail as a fugitive from justice. All three were also wanted in Hancock County, MS, according to jail records. Details on charges against the two teen juveniles have not been released.

The sheriff said the suspects may have been involved in robberies in other states, including Mississippi and along the East Coast, but he declined to provide exact locations.

Gagne and Cheney were tracked down after tips received after their images were posted by NorthEscambia.com and two other media outlets, according to Morgan.

“You were picking up your phones, you were texting us, you were calling in telling us where these suspects were at,” Morgan said just after the arrests. “It (the arrests) were due solely to our community involvement….thank you Escambia County, we can rest easier tonight.”

This is my brother, so I have to say I am glad they caught him. He is not a bad guy to his family. And yes he does care about losses in our family.
He has a long list of crimes committed and has served time for every crime he has committed.
Like I said I am glad he was caught and not killed. Good job law enforcement.

How many times does Sherriff David Morgan have to say to potential criminals, “If you are wanting to commit a crime you better not come to Escambia County Florida or you will be caught?”

    Wikipedia definition:

The teardrop tattoo or tear tattoo is a symbolic tattoo of a tear that is placed underneath the eye. The tattoo can have various meanings: it can signify that the wearer has killed someone; or has spent time in prison; that the wearer was raped while incarcerated; or it can acknowledge the loss of a family or fellow gang member. Sometimes, only the wearer will know the exact meaning of the tattoo.

I doubt these criminals are worried about losing a family member. Most likely proud tears under those eyes.

Teardrop tattoo also means that you lost a loved one or someone who was close

Yee-haa!! Great job to all involved ECSO/task force. Yeah TG, I agree, thanks for the neck tats…that’s a 90% sure way to figure out the scumbags. Did ya’ll notice the tear tattoos on the ’stellar’ Mr Cheney? You do know what that means, don’t you? LEO’s might want to look a little deeper into this….being (sorry, that’s as polite as I can get about this new… target) for past atrocities (I’m sure there’s a couple bodies with his name on them) he surely has committed. I’m too military-minded to deal with folks like these. Proud of all LEO’s work, don’t know how ya’ll can do it.

REAL Cops who have had much experience with Boots on the Ground and learned Street Smarts are the one who really make a difference.
Glad we had True LEO in place for this event.

  21. Dave on June 18th, 2016 4:29 am

Awesome work ESCO, and the Task Force. I am glad it ended without innocent lives being injured or killed. It is too bad the juveniles get wrapped up with low life individuals like this guy Cheney. People seem to only want the easy way in life, versus going to work, and earning it. Im not rich by any means, but I can thank God I at least earned, and not stole what I do have. Again, great work to the LEO’s involved. Im glad they are all also safe.
