Blue Angels’ Fat Albert To Fly Over Pensacola, Beaches This Afternoon
June 7, 2016
U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, Marine Corps C-130 Hercules, affectionately known as Fat Albert, and one F/A-18 Hornet are scheduled to conduct a flyover of downtown Pensacola, Pensacola Beach, and Perdido Key today.
The Blue Angels will perform the flyover in honor of Opposing Solo Capt. Jeff Kuss, as the team transports his body to their home base of Naval Air Station (NAS) Pensacola, Florida, for a memorial ceremony slated to be held at the NAS Pensacola base chapel, June 9.
The flyover will be visible to the general public and take place at approximately 5:45 p.m. Blue Angels Lead Solo Lt. Ryan Chamberlain will lead Fat Albert in a flyover of Palafox St. in downtown Pensacola, from North to South, then over Pensacola Beach, from East to West, and lastly, over Perdido Key, before landing at Forrest Sherman Field, home of the Blue Angels.
The Blue Angels are scheduled to fly 60 demonstrations at 31 locations throughout North America in 2016, which is the team’s 70th anniversary year.
The mission of the Blue Angels is to showcase the pride and professionalism of the United States Navy and Marine Corps by inspiring a culture of excellence and service to country through flight demonstrations and community outreach.

Rest in peace god bless the blue Angels and his family and friends may everyone find peace in their lives
To stay out of the main traffic downtown, I would suggest the Sanders Beach area where there is plenty of parking. I’ve watched them land at the base from that area I don’t think they would fly low, they are fairly high when they practice.
Sad and brokenhearted since the crash. I love the Blue Angels and try to get to Pensacola every year. What a fitting fly over, the home base and general area of their usual flyover flights/practices. Prayers for Captain Kuss and his family and friends.
Thank you for your service, RIP, Captain Kuss.
RIP Captain Kuss…..God Bless!

What a heartfelt gesture for an amazing pilot. Thank you United States Navy and Marines!
I will be there….in the streets…as I am sure with the rest of the downtown crowd to honor our Angel, Capt Jeff Kuss, as he is brough to his home base, NAS, Pensacola.
My deepest sympathies to his wife, children and extended family members.
Fly high Capt Kuss!
Working at NAS I see the Blue Angels fly over practicing several times a week – I will certainly stop and watch today when Capt Kuss passes over the skies of Pensacola – one last time – God Bless this devoted and honored Marine pilot!!!

I am currently attending a conference in Gulf Shores and would be honored to observe the flyover this afternoon and more than willing to drive to Pensacola.
I spoke to someone at Perdido Chamber of Commerce but was not aware of today’s flyover. She did suggest going to Johnson Beach to watch the flyover. Can someone with full knowledge tell me if Fat Albert will indeed fly over the Johnson Beach area? You can email or call me on my cell 205-914-6339. Thanks!
We are so heartbroken. My deepest sympathies to his family!
