Around 6:30 last night I had my usual crowd in here, buying their “usuals”; when suddenly, two Escambia County Sheriff’s officers come busting through the door like gang bangers. It startled everybody in the store including me. They asked me if I saw the U-Haul truck that was parked out front about 5 minutes prior. “Yes, I did.” Do you know who was driving it? “No, I don’t.” Did they come in the store? “I honestly don’t know. It’s rush hour.” Did you happen to see a Hispanic gentleman in here… I’m trying to recall as he, obviously annoyed, very loudly says, “in the last five minutes?” “No, I haven’t.” They turn to leave and I ask whether or not I should call the Sheriff’s Department if I saw the U-Haul truck again.

The one officer hesitates before saying, ” you can if you want to. It’s really not that important if you don’t.” Less than five minutes later I get a phone call from one of my “usuals” telling me that if the U-Haul truck pulled up to the store again I needed to lock the doors and call the police. The article below is why they came in here asking about that U-Haul truck and the driver.

I’m still waiting on a return phone call from whoever is in charge of these guys tonight in regards to why they would fail to tell me that this guy is armed and dangerous, knowing that I am here alone. If that customer had not called and warned me, I would have been completely unaware and blindsided, if the truck and driver were to return.

I have total respect for law enforcement. However, situations such as this, are why so many people, especially the younger generation, have no faith or respect for our law enforcement in this area.

Two hours after calling to speak to the supervisor in charge tonight and still no return phone call. They have probably chalked it up to a crazy, paranoid, hormonal middle aged, bored woman just needing a little excitement on her shift.

I could probably bet an entire year’s pay that if a female officer had been present that I would have been fully informed as to why they were looking for that U-Haul truck and the driver.

    Negligence…if you ask me…

The thug in the red hoodie just looked suspicious wearing a hoodie in the summer time in Florida. We have so much other stuff to worry about but yet people are still being idiots and committing crimes, why cant we just all stand together and get along as a nation? y’know, instead hating each other and arguing, we all need each other now more than ever, and we need to take a stand, stand up for own beliefs and fight and defend ourselves.

Was it truly a U-Haul truck, or just a similar white box truck with no decals? I saw an out of place box truck in Molino the morning after this happened with Texas plates

My daughter works at a raceway so this concerns me.I believe they had a motorcycle or small car in the uhaul and pulled over somewhere to make the change. No one in there right mind would use a u haul as a getaway car because they are big and slow, unless they had something inside. There was a movie a few years ago called ‘Life Among The Pines with Ryon Gossling where they robbed places, but used a truck similar to a uhaul truck to hide a motorcycle for the get a way.

Why can’t you blame this on drug dealers or drug addicts I guarantee they wasn’t robbing a store to feed there family if they were they would just go steal food. Just my thoughts and I would also like to say I would rather be prepared for some idiot like this than let them hurt me or my family so protect yourselves people

Since they made their get away in a UHaul truck, they most likely hopped on the interstate and went out of town.

Shouldn’t be too difficult to follow a u-haul truck, even from a distance. Guess nobody did.

In the Wild West there usually was swift justice for the bad guys and the public was pleased and demanded it. Nowadays we betray these individuals as poor misguided innocent individuals and beat up on law enforcement for doing their job.

Praise the Lord nobody was injured or killed in this latest robbery and gunfire.

@Melodies4us you sure do have That Right.
Adult members of my family have their CWFL and do mostly carry for their own protection.
Daughter said last nite, Used to feel safe just going down the road to the store but guess now I’ll be taking something with me.
Thugs, drug dealers and crime is all around us now and we carry because we do not feel safe.
Lord Bless the USA and them on the streets who protect us.

I feel like we’re regressed to how it was in the Wild West.
