Woman Critically Injured In Freak Gas Station Accident

May 5, 2016

A 25-year old female was critically injured in a freak accident Wednesday afternoon after she stopped to pump gas in Flomaton.

The woman stopped her vehicle at the Kangaroo gas station on Sidney Manning Boulevard just before 5 p.m. According to Flomaton Police Chief Bryan Davis, after she got out of the vehicle, she partial re-entered the vehicle but had one leg out of the open driver’s door. Somehow the vehicle was put into gear and “took off” in a  forward direction, where the driver’s door struck a concrete curb, pushing the door closed on the woman’s leg.

She was transported by Atmore Ambulance to the helipad at the Escambia County (FL) EMS post in Century, and then flown by helicopter to a Pensacola hospital.

Her name has not been released.

    REGARDING:
“If what Sidney said is correct and can be proven she will be a millionaire . Dealership and car maker better start worrying.”

Note that she hasn’t yet suggested anything so sorry, but unless the recall dealt with cars suddenly starting themselves up, releasing their parking brakes and dropping into drive, this doesn’t seem likely.

    David for reason

I really appreciate everyone who helped me out that day especially the girl who held my leg until help came. God bless you so much. My leg will never be the same but I’m alive and that counts for a lot.

That was actually my cousin and the accelerator on her car got stuck. There was a recall on her car and the dealership she just bought it from didn’t notify her of the recall and didn’t fix it so that is what happened.

That’s why you turn your engine off when pulling up to the pump before getting out. I turn off engine and remove keys from ignition and put them in my pocket this keeps someone from jumping in and stealing car. Praying for her.

So it sounds as if the vehicle was left with the motor running.
