I wish that someone would do something about these eyesores along the highway 29 approach to Cantonment.

Some of these pigpens defy explanation? Cottage Hill is not Tobacco Road.

If you are afraid or intimidated by such property owners, I will gladly serve the papers my self.

Unfortunately, code enfordement can enter any property, premises or structure without warning if they have received a complaint. Complaints can be called in anonymously by anyone. Once a complaint is made, code enforcement are required by county code to fully investigate complaint. While I agree that there is a benefit for there to be code enforcement, which helps keeps our community free of health concerns such as mosquito breeding, rats or other vermin, the way they county ordinances are written turn them into glorified witch hunters. They have to investigate unsubstantiated claims made often times by vindictive neighbors. It is truly an invasion of prvacy to continually defend yourself against unwarranted accusations.

Not a bad place to live Molino resident!
    Miss the mullet though!
Still have a lot of relatives and friends there!
    I. for one don’t like the way the people of this nation are falling head over heals with the slow silent erosion of our freedoms and our rights as individuals. I served 23 years in the Air Force, was wounded in Thailand, 1975 to defend your right to be foolish!
This Presidential election has been one of idiots. Pick the best idiot. What a sad state of affairs!

The comments here have reached me in Nebraska and I must say what i feel
I believe in the U.S. Constitution. I feel it shall not be infringed on!
As a Christian, I believe that a church is GODS message servant and that a churches #1 job is to bring lost souls to Christ. When a church gets into political type issues it is stepping away from that responsibility. By pushing the police state mentality you are alienating the locals and overstepping your covenets. You are putting a stumbling block from doing any “soul winning” and witnessing for Christ and you become just another social group of “do gooders”.
I am a Cottage Hill native, a retired Air Force with 23 years of AF travels to several states and foreign countries. I have witnessed “police states” in Thailand, Phillippines,Malaysia. In none of the U.S.states that I have lived in have I seen “neighborhood clean sweeps” other than Escambia County.
I am a law abiding citizen and welcome law enforcement to protect my rights to a degree.. I deal with Omaha Police almost daily with troublemakers in my line of work., but “clean sweeps are bordering on my right to privacy and my right to land ownership and to do with my property as I deem fit. One cannot let this type of interference continue. It seems that some are being climmitized into a world type control and I will not let my rights be infringed on. How about you? Aloot of resources being wasted when they could be getting drunks off the streets and getting the bad guys. To get code violations you have to enter ones property and NO LE or Code Enforcer has a right to Aaccess your land wwithout permission or a warrant!

Attend the Cottage Hill Neighborhood Watch program at the Baptist church and a lot of questions will be answered!

Mr. O’Farrell, if you have an outstanding warrant, Law Enforcement will find you, whether they come in our neighborhood one day or two, they will find you. I don’t care how they come in our neighborhood even if it is on a tricycle, it is good to see them.

I, am glad to see such an act performed in an area that can use it. I too believe that it should happen more often. But I do have a question for those who care or perhaps live in the Harvesters Village area. Why don’t they go through that area everyday? There is enough code violations, criminals, etc… to make it worth while, and maybe get the few “ticks” outta there that stay dug in despite officers best efforts?! Let people who want to have a nice house, yard and home life occupy the homes in that area!

ECSO Keep up the positive work your doing, and those that care about the Cantonment community a nice place to live, thank you as well!

I equate people who litter and have to have someone else clean up after them to someone who doesn’t know how to wipe their own butt. But I have cleaned up after them none the less. Good job.

Forget all the other stuff about disrupting anyone WE have 13 Sex Offenders in our area. That’s what we need to worry about keeping our Kids safe from them and drugs are all around. I for one appreciated them doing this. Its a Good thing Folks!!!They only thing I would like changed is not telling what day. Everybody likes Surprises!!

  12. Retired on May 27th, 2016 12:59 pm

In reference to mike o farrell. There is no invasion. It is a public road that they are on. Not any specific property. Therefore it is very much legal for law enforcement to be there. Now people with warrants is different. However law enforcement still has a legal right to be on that persons property. I am very curious to know how this disrupted your day and the community. Its a public service that they provide. Picking up the trash others dont or want to take to the dump theirselves. Instead of creating eyesores they clean them up. I worked in that area for several years and if you only knew about half of the criminals that live in that area you would request more police prescence.

    And to john,
It is required by law to inform the public of checkpoints, dates and times.

I personally don’t feel like I was disrupted or invaded by law enforcement. As a matter of fact I never even saw them. I can see by the pictures they were right down the road from me though . The only thing I saw or heard was the claw truck going through the area. I guess we all view things differently. My view is one of thankfulness. I appreciate everything they did in my neighborhood yesterday.

Well I’m am pretty sure of why the guy in front in the third picture is riding a horse????

  15. Michelle on May 27th, 2016 10:35 am

Obviously we have some negative folks in Cottage Hill… I think the ECSO did a great job! I know personally that there are 4 less criminals in Cottage Hill thanks to these guys! Thanks for all of your hard work. Also thanks to all the folks who helped with keeping the streets clear of trash. I know I APPRECIATE IT!

  16. Mike O'Farrell on May 27th, 2016 8:56 am

I question the benefits of this occasional type of operation when it subjects a community to the disruption of a virtual invasion of law enforcement personnel. I am very glad that it is over.

  17. Ed on May 27th, 2016 8:07 am

This has a nice touchy feel good feel to it but what these communities need is consistent persistent patrol presence. Hitting an area hard one day then going away is of not much value. I’m also a little curious as to the role the horses play.

  18. john on May 27th, 2016 6:20 am

Let’s tell everyone where we are going to be, so the really bad people can honker down for that day!
