    @ponderosa hill
That’s exactly what I do. It’s crazy, on my way home if I try to cross it seems like people speed up so I can’t get across.
The brush truck was trying to get to the wreck on Molino Rd when it was hit. Sad, but those minutes could’ve mattered to Mrs. Nowling.
People are in such a rush nowdays. Not just on the roads, but even places like the grocery store. Slow the heck down and appreciate life. Wave to your neighbors. Smile to a stranger. It may help someone more than you think.

How about add an emergency light to the intersection that is controlled by the FD when they respond they can trip the traffic light for a set time to clear the intersection. Maybe the wake up call was the wreck.

Like CJ…..don’t know the exact details as they weren’t explained in the write-up. However, from the looks of both vehicles it appears the van was headed south on 29 and the responding vehicle was trying to cross 29 from east to west on Molino rd. a very dangerous/busy intersection that begs complete attention at all times. Maybe in the future it would be best to turn right ( north ) on 29 then do a 180 asap & go back south. Takes a little longer ( 1 or 2 mins )? But much better results for the public’s safety, and the county’s insurance premiums.

No idea what actually happened here but I do know what has almost happened to me. I look and see nothing and then look again around the window supports – it is amazing what those little or not so little supports can block out. Just take time to double check by moving your view around any physical obstruction in your vehicle.

    REGARDING:
“Reduce the speed? No. 65 is fine. Its the 55 then 65 ”

I hope we’re clear that the speed limit is 55 all along there. (I don’t know that speeding was involved here, just a general statement.)
It’s never above 55 on Hwy 97, has been 55 for about a mile north of 97 and 29 intersection, will remain 55 down to about a half a mile past Jimmy’s.

Anyhoo, 65 is not fine right there. The caution light really does mean people should be cautious around there because so many pull out onto 29 without the way being clear. I am reasonably sure that happened here.

    and cameras, lots of cameras

Thanks for all your concern. I know this couple and I can assure you they wouldn’t have been speeding as some speculate. It is an unfortunate situation and prayers to all who are affected by both accidents. They’ve been released from the hospital.

Everyone please drive as safely as you can.

The older couple are fine , the elderly lady suffered only from chest pains , otherwise not a scratch. The elderly gentleman driving was also in good shape with only some scrapes to left arm . We had a lot of good help on scene until other first responders arrived. Also the fireman who was in the truck that was involved in the wreck was able to assist with no injuries. It saddens me that the young lady he was responding to in the wreck a few miles east of us passed. Prayers to her and her family.when God calls home his angels , it’s beyond our control. God bless

Reduce the speed? No. 65 is fine. Its the 55 then 65 then flashing caution lights and people driving in the left (passing) lane. Now we have trains sitting on hwy 29, and the traffic congestion starting in cantonment.

Prayers for all involved. Also, praying for the family of the young lady killed in the accident that the fire dept was responding to. We should be grateful to all EMT’s, FHP, ECSO Officer’s as well as our local Vol. Fire Dept’s. God Bless them and God Bless the families of the accident victims.

I hope the people in the van are OK. I know that even though the firefighters in the brush truck weren’t injured, they are deeply concerned for the others involved. I pray that everyone makes a full recovery, both physically and mentally.

Speed limit is too high on 29 and until it is lowered and patrolled people will continue to have accidents and worse.
Many do not respect the the speed limit and drive 10-15 over the limit!
Reduce the speed, patrol the area and you’ll see a change. Maybe enough revenue to hire a new officer for the area!

Need signs to reduce speed between atmore cut-off and molino road on hwy 29. Bad intersection.

First Responders put their lives and safety on the absolute Line every time they respond to a call.
Why — Why — Why can other drivers not just get out of their way so they can be more safe?
See it all the time….no need for this intrusion to have taken place.
Praying for the Safety of ALL involved in this.
    Prayers for ALL First Responders.
