Electric Coops Celebrate National Lineman Appreciation Day

April 11, 2016

Monday, Escambia River Electric Cooperative honored the hard working line crews who often work in challenging conditions to keep the power on. America’s electric cooperatives have designated the second Monday of April as National Lineman Appreciation Day.

“Today, we honor our linemen for their hard work, dedication and sacrifice.  Our guys are often called in to work power outages and they have to miss their son’s ballgame, their daughter’s piano recital or a get together with friends,” said Clay Campbell, general manager/CEO. “But they do it and they don’t complain.  Because it’s who they are, it’s what they do.  And for that we thank them.”

Line crews are “the first responders of the electric cooperative family, getting power back on and making things safe for all after storms and accidents”, according to a resolution adopted by the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.

Thank you for all that ya’ll do! That’s not an easy job to do, especially during bad weather or after vehicle accidents that causes damage to the power grids. Again, thanks!

Remembering the tough days after Hurricane Ivan.
Seeing the Sheriff’s cars escorting linemen from all over the USA into Escambia County and the people applauding them and OUR Gulf Power Linemen/Heroes.
We took food, water, sodas to the guys working from their trucks and they were always ever so humble and thankful.

Remembering seeing OUR Gulf Power trucks and crews leaving Escambia County to help give aid, assistance and help to light up other communities hard hit by Mother Nature.

Any time that I see the Gulf Power trucks and know their abilities, skills and the lifesaving power they bring to us it makes me want to cheer them on.
Knowing too that it takes a WHOLE Lot of people behind the scenes to help support the linemen and work crews so THANK YOU also.

    AWESOME….With Much Gratitude.
