Murder Suspect Arrested In State Line Shooting Death
April 26, 2016
A suspect has been arrested in the state line shooting death of a young Flomaton man last week.
Devonte DeShawn Rollins, age 20 of Atmore, was taken into custody Monday afternoon for the April 19 shooting death of 18-year old Kenneth Harris, Jr. of Flomaton.
Flomaton Police Chief Bryan Davis said Rollins shot Harris in the back of his head. Davis would not elaborate on any possible motive for the shooting.
Last Friday agents from the FBI, U.S. Marshals, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Flomaton Police Department executed the search warrant at a home on Lender Street, an area directly on the Alabama-Florida state line off Alley 5 in Century.
About 12:45 p.m. last Tuesday, the Flomaton Police Department received a 911 call that a person had been shot. Officers from the Flomaton Police Department and the Escambia County (FL) Sheriff’s Office responded, with the the Flomaton Police Department taking the lead role in the investigation.
More details will be posted as they become available.

I grew up with him. He never seemed like he would kill someone. But that comes to show that people show you what they want you to see. I am praying for the family.
…..a life for a life is the only justice for the victim…just maybe…this will deter people who think they can get away with murder and be rewarded a life sentence with water food shelter exercise programs and medical health provided at taxpayers expense. Wheres the punishment????
You can run but you can’t hide
Justice has not been served yet folks….we taxpayers will provide him an attorney,a warm place to live and meals plus exercise time….for a very long time..that does not seem like justice to me…he will have it way better than he ever did out on the street..cause this won’t cost him anything..but his freedom..and he must not place a high value on freedom.
The children who will not have their father are the real victims here.
Prayers for Courtney and co,,
He’ll be awarded a “full scholarship” by a jury to be completed at a DOC facility.
It’s so sad for what senseless I pray for both families and parties rip Kenny you’re loved n missed
@ Pray
regarding-18 and 20, and the rest of both of their lives gone.
I understand your point of view, but only one life is gone.
Mr. Rollins will have a 2nd chance on earth.
Unfortunately, Kenneth doesn’t get that opportunity.
Yellow Mama!
@Pray, I’ll pray for the murderer!
“May the pit swallow him”!
This is so sad, not only for the person murdered, but
Also for the person who did this. BOTH are someone’s
Child. I have 2 sons and this hits me hard to see this. They
literally had their whole entire lives ahead of them
left to live. 18 and 20, and the rest of both of their lives gone.
These kids have no drive, no ambition, no goals, no real sense
of what life could ever offer outside of Atmore/Flomaton/Century.
I just feel so sorry for them and this world they’re having to grow up in.
We’ve got to teach our boys about matters of the heart.
Do better because WE want better, and when they get better, it will all be
because of LOVE. We can never stop trying. Praying for BOTH sides of this tragedy.
Thank god justice is served…
thanks justice wheel is rolling
