Officer Involved Shooting Under Investigation; Suspects Identified

UPDATE: The suspects in Monday morning’s officer involved shooting have been identified as:
Donald L. May, 34, who has been arrested 21 times locally since 2000 on charges ranging from home invasion to petit fheft. This does not include the charges forthcoming from the crimes that were committed this morning.
Fred A. Jenkins, 54, who has been arrested 6 times locally since 2000 on charges ranging from aggravated assault with a deadly weapon to check fraud. This does not include the charges forthcoming from the crimes that were committed this morning.
An early morning officer involved shooting is under investigation in Escambia County.
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Oak Lodge Mobile Home Park in 7500 block of Lillian Highway for a reported home invasion in progress. The victim told dispatchers that two black males were trying to enter their residence and were armed with guns.
The victim gave a detailed description of the pickup truck the suspects were driving. When deputies arrived on scene the suspects were trying to flee the area in the pickup truck that the victim described, according to the ECSO.
The deputies gave verbal commands to the suspects, the truck then accelerated towards the deputies at which time they fired their weapons at the vehicle. The pickup then crash into the side of the nearby Lillian Square Apartments. Two suspects were transported to local hospitals. Their conditions have not been made available. The resident of the apartment was not injured.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has taken over the investigation, which is standard procedure in officer involved shootings.
The Oak Lodge Mobile Home Park is next door to the Myrtle Grove fire station.

The reason repeat offenders are not incarcerated is because you make more money off them with probation. Grant they never end up paying but judges and lawyers don’t care it’s another off the daily docket knowing they will offend again is job security for them. If we could truly put criminals away permanently like they should be there would not need to be so many judges,lawyers, law
enforcement people. Think about that.
Why are either of these people free? Is it the system or those running the system? When this type of violent crime occurs and those suspected of the crime have a lengthy history of the same type of crime there should be an investigation into those who saw fit to allow them freedom. If the same judge made the mistake of continuing to allow a violent felon freedom, there needs to be accountability.
If the justice system cannot hold home invaders for the safety of the public, then they are not a justice system.

It’s amazing how that revolving door is our criminal justice system just keeps on spinning. No time for it to slow down. The clown that has been arrested 21 times in 15 years is a classic example if the real problem. You can bet that the judges name was Goodman or Bergosh. They keep that door well greased………
