Justices To Hear Open-Carry Gun Case In June

March 23, 2016

The Florida Supreme Court will hear arguments June 8 in a challenge to a state law that bars people from openly carrying firearms.

Justices issued an order Monday scheduling the arguments in the challenge filed by Dale Norman, who was arrested in 2012 in Fort Pierce while openly carrying a gun in a holster. After a jury found Norman guilty of a misdemeanor charge, the 4th District Court of Appeal upheld the state law, ruling it does not violate constitutional rights to bear arms.

Norman then appealed to the Supreme Court, which said in October that it would take up the case.

During the legislative session that ended this month, lawmakers considered proposals that would have allowed people with concealed-weapons licenses to openly carry guns. But the measures did not pass.

There is estimated to be well over 100 million LEGAL gun owners in the US who own over 300 million firearms and well over 17TRILLION rounds of ammunition.

Given the above estimations, if legal gun owners were the problem, everyone would damn well know it.

    REGARDING:
“After a jury found Norman guilty of a misdemeanor charge, the 4th District Court of Appeal upheld the state law, ruling it does not violate constitutional rights to bear arms.”

You have the right to keep and bear arms, but you don’t have the right to keep them or bear them openly or concealed without the government’s permission?

versus “…the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” in the supreme law of the nation. Note this statement is not limited to Congress but to any government entity by its wording.

To try and take one’s right to self-defense, is satanic

I’m with you Sedition. One person does not decide for the majority. I hope he is voted out of office, but Miami is so liberal I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets a promotion.

“But the measures did not pass.”
    Not entirely true.

That filthy Miami RINO, Miguel Diaz de la Portilla, killed this bill this session, along with two other gun bills, by not granting them hearings in his committee.

He decided, all on his own and against the will of the people, to not allow a vote on it.

Me thinks that he will pay heavily come election time. I hope to see him eating out of garbage cans and sleeping in a cardboard refrigerator box for the rest of his natural life.
