Fire Chief: Car Seats Save Toddlers In Rollover Crash

March 10, 2016

A local fire chief is crediting the use of car seats with saving two toddlers from serious injury or even death during a rollover crash Wednesday.

A driver lost control on Highway 113 just north of Flomaton Wednesday, flipping her car over before it came to rest upright in a ditch. Two toddlers, both age about 18 months, were property restrained in car seats in the vehicle, and both were unharmed.

‘The car seats saved those children,” Flomaton Fire Chief Steve Stanton said. “Without the car seats, they likely would have been seriously injured or worse. I just can’t say enough how important car seats are, and this wreck showed that.”

The driver of the vehicle, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation by theĀ  Alabama State Troopers. The Flomaton Fire Department, Lifeguard EMS, and the Flomaton Police Department also responded to the crash.

Thank God for answering prayers….”HE” kept them! Glory to God for showing us that the lovely grandmother and twins have a job to do, and the family has a testimony to share. Secure the babies and yourselves properly in the car seats, but put your “Faith” in God. “Grace” was truly upon the family…..Buckle up and say a prayer :D

My nephew flipped and rolled his car with his son in it. No telling what would have happened had he not been restrained properly in a carseat.

WAY TO GO MOM! I’d high 5 you right now if I could! I’m so thankful those babies and the mom are ok! YAY for seatbelts and thank GOD for protecting them! I am the mother of a precious little girl and I always double check to make sure her car seat is buckled properly and she’s safe. (hubby and I wear our seat belts too). Seat belts do save lives!

I’ve always said if grown folks don’t want to wear a seat belt that’s their own (poor) choice but please please buckle the babies up because they can’t do it themselves!

Praise God and car seats! I want to give this mom a big hug for ensuring her babies were restrained properly. Praying whatever injuries they had will heal quickly.

Thank God the children nor driver had any serious injuries.

Folks, heed the Fire Chief’s words CHILD SEATS–properly installed and SEAT BELTS Save Lives.
They won’t work unless USED Properly and Every Time you are in the vehicle.

MOM you did the best possible you could to protect the children and yourself.
    SO pleased all are okay…

What a wonderful story to hear, lives saved. Thank you Chief for reminding us all of the importance of car seats for little ones and the adult using the seatbelt!
