Attempted Bus Stop Child Abduction Reported; Photo Of Suspect Vehicle Released

March 11, 2016

An attempted child abduction at a Cottage Hill bus stop Thursday remains under investigation.

A child waiting at their bus stop this morning at the corner of Glenna Lane and Williams Ditch Road told Escambia County deputies that an unshaven white male in his mid-20’s to early 30’s pulled up in a red car.

The juvenile said the male then tried to entice the child by yelling out of the car window “get in the car”. The child ran away from the bus stop to a nearby home where deputies were called.

Thursday afternoon, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office released surveillance photo of the car that may have been involved in the incident.

If you have any information on this incident call ECSO at 850-436-9630 or CrimeStoppers at 850-433-STOP.

Editor’s note. The ECSO also released surveillance video of a car and a man at an area convenience store. The ECSO said “We made contact with this man. No arrest have been made at this time.”. Those photos have been removed from this story.

In most cases the parents aren’t sleeping. They are driving to work!

Concerned, I’m sorry but i don’t see any nasty rude comments on here, were some deleted that i didn’t see? All the ones I’m reading are expressing concern about our children

Do you people have anything better to do then leaving your nasty rude comments? This child was 11 years old and he did what he was taught. He gave the cops very good description of the guy and the vehicle. Until this happens to one of your children quit the judging and assumptions. This guy is still out there and until he is caught he may do it again. So keep an eye out for anything suspicious , always be on alert. And take consideration to family and your comments. They are reading all these comments. Their dealing with enough with their child now being scared etc. you know that old saying! If you can’t say anything nice then say nothing at all!!!!!!!

Man I hope they catch this person!

I see kids every morning as I drive to work waiting for the bus and no parents whatsoever. Some kids look very very young.

PARENTS – this is not the old days. It is worse, watch your kids and worry about your sleep later.

The juvenile said the male then tried to entice the child by yelling out of the car window “get in the car”.

    Doesn’t sound very enticing.

It is very likely the fine folks at First Stop convenience store know exactly who he is, or at least his shopping habits if he’s from here.

Thank God that child ran to a nearby home. Bless her parents for teaching her right. Very scary and I do pray they find this person before he does manage to get a child and do God knows what.
