Sindel To Run For Commission; Taylor To Seek ECUA Seat

January 20, 2016

Two new candidates pre-filed Tuesday to seek local seats in the 2016 election cycle.

Karen Sindel  pre-filed for Escambia County Commissioner, District 1, as a Republican. She is seeking the seat currently held by Wilson Robertson, who has said he will not seek re-election. Sindel ran unsuccessful for county commission in 2010, finishing about 150 votes behind Gene Valentino.   School Board member Jeff Bergosh and Jesse Casey have also pre-filed to seek the position.

Jim Taylor pre-filed for Escambia County Utility Authority, District 5, as a Republican. He previously pre-filed to run for school superintendent in 2016. Taylor ran unsuccessfully for the Escambia County Commission District 5 seat in 2012, receiving about 10.5 percent of the vote.

Mr. Taylor has run for a variety of offices/positions to no avail.

It’s not whether he’s a good man or helped others. It’s about being elected.

As for the remark posted about Larry Walker,…this man has done a superb job his 24 years serving the public’s interest and not his own. Clone him for all elected positions.
Call him and he’ll respond to your need or request in a positive, forthright manner.
This elected official even posts his home phone number and not an answering machine.

If it’s working, don’t try to fix it!

Carpetbagger? Really? She moves within the county and she is a foreigner? Lol
Ms. Sindel also had a house at the beach and lived there. She is building a house in Nature Trail on a lot that she owns. So what?
Wilson Robertson, the present District 1 commissioner, used to be commissioner in District 5. I guess he ….(GASP) … moved! Lol It didn’t seem to be an issue for the voters in that district.

Sindel has 10 years experience on the Planning Board, time on the Santa Rosa island Authority board, work with the Naval Aviation Foundation and the Flight Academy, as well as a lot of non-profit experience. She seems pretty well qualified for a commissioner, so I am interested to hear what her ideas are for the county.
(Also, commissioners make decisions for the entire county, not just their own district.)
I really hope that we are not so provincial that we don’t like people living in other districts in the same county! (My kids live in a different district that we do ….maybe I should get a passport, lol.)

Just so you know, Karen Sindel lives in and previously ran for the BOCC District 2 race and lost.
Now she has filed to run for BOCC District 1 Commissioner.
    Outside of her home district.
    Carpetbagger.

Jim Taylor is not a carpetbagger. He has lived in this County his entire life and in District 5 for over 20 years. He has also assisted many families with food, clothing and utility bills. He will be a breath of fresh air after 24 years of rate increases under Larry Walker.

Jim Taylor is no carpetbagger I can assure you. I’ve know him for many years here in Escambia, and he is a good man. He cares about the needs of others and would do a fine job for ECUA.

    Just say no to carpetbaggers.
