Church, Forest Service Celebrate Arbor Day With Food And Trees For Needy

January 15, 2016

The Florida Forest Services teamed up with the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Century to provide free fruit trees to needy families.

Abundant Life  holds a food distribution each Thursday for those in need in the community. During Thursday’s event, the Florida Forest Service provided food recipients with their choice of a free pear, plum, peach or loquat tree in celebration of Arbor Day.

The church food distribution serves about 400 needy families in the Century community each month. Food distributions are held weekly on Thursday with recipients allowed to receive food once per month.

Want to thank the Florida Forestry for their willingness to reach out to our blessed community of Century Florida! One of my favorite scriptures in God’s Living Word,is in (Proverbs 20:24),it teaches us how the Lord orders our steps.Yesterday was confirmation in that those fruit trees to us believers of Christ Jesus, are the promise of God’s fruit, and we are rejoicing ,because we stand on His promises here, for the Lord is faithful. So we say, thank you Jesus, for your eye is on the sparrow!!!

What a success yesterday was. So many fruit trees given away, they will supply future generations with an abundance of food. Our Thursday food distributions are from 10 -12 and it is our joy to serve the residents of Escambia County, Florida. We have been helping north Escambia County residents with food since July, 2006. I would like to thank everyone that has helped us with funding, manpower, fresh produce from their gardens, deer meat, peanut butter, fruit trees, clothing, grocery bags, and so much more. The need in our area just grows every year. We have a need right now for a box truck to help us get the food from Milton to Century. Last year we hauled over 100,000 pounds mainly in our personal Dodge Caravans and pick up trucks. We love the work that God has given us to do and we love the people of Century.
