Highway 29 Morning Drivers Greeted By Giant Equipment

Tuesday morning drivers on Highway 29 through North Escambia were greeted by a couple of giant equipment pieces under escort  by the Florida Highway Patrol. In these photos, the items are passing the Highway 29 and Highway 95A intersection in Cantonment. Details of the transport were not released in advance.     They went North. I saw Alabama troopers waiting by the rail tracks too. It was very interesting to see.

    So…………..I wonder where they are going.
    Going south, maybe to the port or Patti’s Shipyard or I-10.
    Going north ?

    Michael, you may be right…I just don’t know enough about azmuthing thrusters to dispute it.

    It is for steering the ship, and is used instead of a rudder. It is also much more effective!

    It’s not a turbine. It’s a azmuthing thruster for a large ship. It goes under the vessel , normally in the stern (rear). It rotates nearly 360 degrees.
