Trial Postponed For Century Double Shooting Suspect

December 2, 2015

An Escambia County Judge on Tuesday approved a continuance in the trial of a Century shooting suspect.

Brian Keith Sanders is charged with two counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, firing a weapon into a vehicle and criminal mischief. Tuesday, Judge Terry Terrell granted a motion for a continuance in the case, with Sanders now due back in court in early February.

Sanders allegedly fired into a vehicle at Jefferson Avenue and Mayes Street in Century on March 26. The vehicle was found with the driver’s side window apparently shot out.

Two victims were transported by private vehicle to Jay Hospital with gunshot wounds to their shoulder or upper-arm areas. They were treated and released.

Sanders was taken into custody about a month later in the parking lot of the Wind Creek Casino in Atmore and extradited back to Florida to face trial. Sanders, who is also facing numerous drug charges from an unrelated case, remains in the Escambia County Jail with bond set at $141,000.

Well said Mr. Green. As I’m sure you are aware of, half the prisons are full of self proclaimed innocent people. The courts find them guilty but they were framed, falsely accused, lied on,etc. They were sent to jail simply because they could be.

I’m not sure when it became the acceptable thing not to take responsibility for your actions. Growing up, back in the stone age as my children would have it, we had fewer crimes and if you committed a crime you didn’t see the family in the news saying what a great person the killer was or “free tae tae.” It just disgusting that even stupid has freedom of speech.

    REGARDING:
” he ain’t do it free tae tae and them they ain’t do it either”

Well, since he ain’t do it an’ they ain’t do it, it obviously ain’t happen.

Therefore, he needs a quick trial to free himself from these trumped up charges so he can proceed to all the other things he’s charged with and which I assume he also ain’t do.

    David for justice

Judge Terrell put in his notice to retire. I hope the judge that hears this and other criminal cases here is Escambia will be very strict and tough on crime. The lawlessness and lack of stopping and solving crimes is unacceptable. We need to be a people who are fierce and forceful to do what is right from concerned citizens, to juries to law enforcement to judges. No more, no excuses.

Now his studying for his GED and volunteer work in the community has been disrupted. He just needs one more chance to get straightened out. Maybe after a FAIR
and IMPARTIAL trial and being convicted and then sentenced to 25 years on each count…as a previously convicted felon, he will be almost harmless to society.

    It is what it is!!!!

Why wait? At least he is in jail.
