A pedestrian was struck by a semi-truck Saturday night on Highway 29 in Bluff Springs.
The pedestrian was in or near Highway 29 at Bluff Springs Road when he was struck by the northbound semi about 6:20 p.m. The adult male was airlifted by LifeGuard helicopter to a Pensacola hospital with serious injuries that were not believed to be immediately life threatening.

That was my dad he wasn’t walking up the highway he was cross it he was a very lucky man and I own that to the truck driver he actions saved my dad’s life and our family is thankful.
All the comments about the walkers along 29 but nothing about the driver of the truck. His or her evasive actions were probably the only thing that saved the fella’s life. “Great job!” to the professional driver who is always looking high and far to avoid bad accidents.
You should always walk facing the oncoming traffic day or night. That way you have a good chance of getting out of the way if a car/truck is about to hit you. Also, you should not walk in the road if possible. Can’t tell you how many times I have seen people walking in the same direction as the traffic with head phones on and eyes on the ground in front of them where they have no idea what is coming at them from behind.
Agree with Joy! Driving the same route (US 29) I see a LOT more walkers than I do stranded auto’s. Most of those walkers should have on brighter clothing or IF their car stalled, they should have a flashlight in the glove compartment….ya think???
@Joy,
We don’t always know that we’re going to be walking at night. What if your car breaks down or has a flat? What if they’ve had an accident?
Oh, yeah, rather than worry about their own safety or the emotional wellbeing of their loved ones, they should worry about your state of mind! Hello! They are walking at night! They are worrying about getting there safely, NOT what you may think olr feel.
Oh wow! I sure hope they are ok.
I do a lot of driving at night as I live in Molino – I can’t tell you how many people have on all black or very dark colors either walking right on the edge of the road or riding a bike – you can’t see them until you are right there – THEY should stop and think and wear orange or carry a flashlight SOMETHING so we don’t have to suffer the mental anguish of hitting one of them
