Fire Destroys Beulah Bar
December 15, 2015
A fire that destroyed a bar in Beulah early this morning is under investigation by the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The Tavern in the 8600 block of Beulah Road had closed about 2 a.m., and by about 3:30 a.m. was fully involved in fire. The building was a complete loss.
There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

i remember when it was little g’s. my friends would plan the day to go to the river. on the way back we would stop & order something to eat, just to refuel to continue having a good time. went there every Sunday. the burgers was the bomb. sorry to see it go. then it became a watering hole to start a new chapter. through the good times & bad, it turned out to be the most popular spot for folks to hang out & catch up on whats been going on. also to make new memories. i loved the people that worked there as well the people who went there. the one who did this should fess up & undo what she or he had done. i’m so glad no one was hurt. mentally the only ones were hurt was the owner, employees & patrons..that’s sad. like the owner said on tv, if you needed something, JUST ASK. just plain & simple. this is a coward who did this. i’m praying that you can rebuild. if i can help, please let me know. love all.
i agree with my niece tammy graham their is alot of saddness with this fire went alittle part of doug graham we will miss the tavern
I was a bartender there for several years, I remember the good days and the bad days. They are all good memories. For Beulah a piece of history is gone . I was bartender when it was called Tavern n the Country . I knew the owner very well. R.I.P. Doug B. Graham.
@Richard Gates, I used to eat at “Little Gs” back circa 81, 82 and the food was great.
It was nice to eat on the picnic tables, under the shady oaks.
I was stationed at Keesler AFB back then and sold the hostess there on joining the USAF. I cannot remember her name, though I do remember she was an underclassman from my Tate High days (76). She was a nice hostess and I hope that she is prospering.
I never frequented the bar as it seemed a little tame, though I do know that many people enjoyed the neighborhood atmosphere there.
I have lived in the Beulah community for 49 years. I was born here and raised 3 great kids here. I will probably die here. With that being sad, the hole in the wall (The Tavern) has had its ups and downs through the years but it was a meeting place for some of the most colorful residents of Beulah. When my father passed in the 80″s, I was young and full of mischief. My first thought was to go drown my sorrows at the local watering hole. What I got out of that trip was not a hangover, but a life lesson from one of the older patrons that made me think about what I needed to do instead of what I wanted to do. My point is that it may not be a town hall, or even a church, but it was a community meeting place that I went to and listened to the latest gossip or to hear about that big buck that was killed by one of the patrons. It was a part of the community and like it or not, it holds memories too. I heard a customer at Tom Thumb say that the Baptist ought to be happy that it burned. Maybe so but I for one went there and I think I turned out ok or at least my family thinks so. I hope that when all is said and done, the Arsonist that did this deed is punished to the full extent of the law and I hope that it can be rebuilt!
I was born and raised in Ferry Pass over Seventy years ago. It also has gone to pots. remember the old G place to go to to get a good hamburger. Its a shame things have changed in my 78 years. Just the memories now remain. Glad no was injured in the fire.
I remember Little G’s. I use to eat there all the time; they had the best burgers. Really miss that place.
I am praying for all. I worked there back in 1992, where I met my husbandand we have been married 22yrs. Lots of memories. So sorry my phone is messed up
Im with Beulah residents (especially Beulah Betty). I feel the same way about Molino area and our two small rivers. Where you hardly seen any now are many. Worse, the many act as if they been here forever and know about everything. Sorry to the wanna be hunter on Escambia River last weekend. I know nothing of your finger padded gloves so you can text from your stand. Was hunting coons with daddy on Parker Island 35 years ago. Sorry Will of Perdido Natural Adventures, learned to swim, fished, baptised, and lived on Perdido River for months at a time long before you were here.
So yeah, try to keep memories alive in something tangible as long as you can. For me, i’ve already told my children this home is probaby not where their future children will come to spend summers. Just don’t think I could live here once it’s turned into yuppyville like the Kingsfield Rd. area has become.
To me this was a place thats been there since day one in this community. Back when times were more simple this was a bar/resturant and on the west side was the Beaulah sausage festival, where they played such games as cow paddy bingo and such. Now it’s moved to the fairgrounds and not so much fun anymore in my mind But you have transplants from other areas that think it’s dangerous and a eyesore. So be it. But I do hope they rebuild, because I like a cold beer every now and then. God bless all the people and empoye
s that’s involed in this.
So sad to see this i was bartender there for over 5 yrs back in the day …..Lots of memories with good friends…
Well, that’s a shame. As far as rebuilding it goes, I’ve been kind of annoyed over the years to be behind someone in traffic on 9 Mile Rd who looks like they are probably impaired and shouldn’t be driving, only to have them turn into that bar. That’s when I comment to myself, “yep buddy, that’s what you need is another drink”.
I get that it was a landmark hole in the wall, but my hope is that someone will build something more useful to the community on that corner.
I also hope the people who need to drink, will drink at home and stay off the roads.
So sad. Growing up in Beulah I enjoyed going to Little G’s for a good bite to eat. The community has changed so much over the years it makes me sad when the landmark locations are either torn down or destroyed. A big thank you to the fire fighters who responded. Stay safe!
Well, It is so sad that people try to move away from town and get out in the good old country and enjoy the quiet life and then they come and kill all the trees animals and build things everywhere which brings more people. This place was a historical place for Beulah as are many of the places here that are disappearing. Please rebuild it but don’t put a Wal-Mart or fast food place in return. Please save the things WE ALL love about HOME. This little spot was like a part of home to everyone who lives here, regardless if you drink or went there at all. SAVE BEULAH!!!!
That’s sad. Maybe they will rebuild. If business was good, they will be back.
Beulah has already been changed in my 30 years of living here that was like one of our last original monuments. I mean the costal airport place is going too. Wow.
My father Doug Graham was the original owner for many many years! I remember when the little G’s restaurant was in business with it ! That place has lots of fun n crazy family memories growing up! IT was the last visible memory that I have of my father! Hope that it can be rebuilt & glad no one was hurt. But a piece of me went with that fire! RIP DOUG GRAHAM!
WOW, good people, and good times there. Glad no one was hurt .
What a shame. Many biker charity events had this place as a stop. Hopefully they’ll be able to rebuild and continue on the tradition for the biker community and for the folks in Beulah, who were regulars there.
Man this sucks the Beulah family is going to miss this place lots of memories there
That was one of my stops when I go bike riding.. I’ll miss that place..
