Molino Man Charged With Felony Child Abuse

November 16, 2015

A Molino man has been arrested for  allegedly punching a child.

Jarvarez Charles Weaden, 18, was charged with felony child abuse without great bodily harm.

Weaden’s mother told Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies that Weaden was eating dinner with the family when he got into a verbal argument with the child. The mother reported Weaden struck the child in the side of her face several times with his fist. The victim and a witness also related the same story to deputies, according to an arrest report.

The victim refused medical treatment.

Weaden was released from the Escambia County Jail on a $500 bond.

The bond was originally 50,000 but you only have to pay ten percent of the bond to get out of jail until you go to court

    REGARDING:
“Weaden was eating dinner with the family when he got into a verbal argument with the child. The mother reported Weaden struck the child in the side of her face several times with his fist.

    SUGGESTION:
Don’t invite him to dinner tomorrow.

A minor should not be able, legally, to refuse medical treatment. Child Services needs to step in here & make sure the victim is properly looked after healthwise.

Wonder how old the child was. Doesnt excuse it, but he looks pretty young himself. Coukd it be one of those, just turned 18 smacked a 16 y/o? Agaian, doesnt excuse it, but may explain the unbeleivably low bond.

What? not quite enough strikes to a child’s face with his fist to be deemed great bodily harm? How many does it take?

Good for the mom and family reporting someone who was a guest in their house and didn’t just brush it under the rug…

Did I misread this or miss something “The victim refused medical treatment.” If the child is a minor how can he/she refuse medical treatment? Just wondering.
I also agree with SS that if it is a felony, why is bond so low unless it is because “no great bodily harm” was done. Maybe next time there will be and he will get a higher amount of bond. Crazy.

SS I would agree……$500 bond for felony child abuse? And what kind of MAN gets in to a verbal altercation with a KID and hits them with his fists? Also, it sounds like it was a girl he hit????? Too bad he can’t spend a little time in jail hitting REAL men and seeing what kind of reaction he gets from that. Son, I dare say you’re not a MAN yet if you have to beat a little girl up. If there was another REAL man in the house YOU would have been the one going to the hospital.
