Escambia Man Arrested For Arson; Suspected In Four More Fires

November 19, 2015

The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office has arrested an Escambia County man for purposely setting a fire at a Pensacola business, and they said he is suspected in at least four more blazes.

David Matthew McIntyre, 37, was booked into the Escambia County Jail on a charge of arson. He was released with a GPS monitor on $50,000 bond.

On November 2, State Fire Marshal investigators from the Pensacola field office responded to and conducted a fire examination at 2009 East Olive Road in Pensacola. A building located near the rear of Ruth’s Uniforms had burned and investigators determined that the fire had been intentionally.  A neighborhood canvas identified McIntyre as a possible suspect and witness statements led to an arrest warrant being filed for his arrest. Days later, he was arrested for arson without incident, bond was set at $50,000, and McIntyre was ordered to wear a GPS monitor until trial.

During the defendant interview process, McIntyre was questioned about and admitted to several other fires that had occurred in previous years in the Pensacola area. Additional charges related to these fires are forthcoming.

They include:

• Ruth’s Uniforms, located at 2009 East Olive Road in Pensacola
• Attitude’s Bar, located at 100 East 9 Mile Road in Pensacola
• Residential fire, located at 8146 Binkley Street in Pensacola
• Knight’s Inn Hotel, located at 5829 Pensacola Boulevard in Pensacola
• Hope’s Treasures, located at 43 West 9 Miles Road in Ensley

If convicted, McIntyre faced 20 years in prison.

David is a drughead not an arsonist. Slow in the head he probably admitted to these crimes unknowingly of the consequences. I hope the truth comes out at trial because eventhough he has problems he doesn’t deserve to be convicted of these charges. If he is guilty then I will agree with whatever the sentence. I said guilty, not found guilty..big difference

He lives in my neighborhood. This neighborhood has had a rash of uninhabited homes burning down over the past few years. I think they should check him for those too. There Was also a bar fire on Olive road too. Years ago there was a semi that was torched. He’s lived in this neighborhood most of his life. I believe LE will find, he’s had a hand in some, if not all of the unsolved arsons here. Not that they will bother to check. THey don’t do much around here.

I could see a scumbag getting paid to torch for insurance jobs, but to do it with no reason is just stupid. Makes one wonder what his motivation was. Revenge against all these different locations, I think not.

Just what we need, a firebug running loose. Smooth move, but we gotta keep our bondsmen in biz. Hopefully he will be put away until he is too old to run around setting fires. I’ve had someone attempt to burn my vehicles, so I know the personality type. Drughead, most likely. Not stupid, but in bad mental condition. A good lawyer could get him off on this type of defense, or time in Chattahoochee. Either way, this guy is a menace, & very bad news. I wonder who bailed him out.

Bail? Why? He could have killed people and he ruined property! He is dangerous!
