Escambia District Approves Upcoming School Year Calendars

November 18, 2015

The Escambia County School District has approved calendars for the next two school years.

The calendars begin school on August 10, and both years include a full week out of school at Thanksgiving (a combination fall break and Thanksgiving holiday).

The calendars were approved by the Escambia County School Board Tuesday evening.

    >>>Is this for Florida or Alabama?

We primarily cover North Escambia, FL. If it only says Escambia in one of our stories, it is Florida.

Any reference to the county in Alabama will say Escambia (AL) or something similar.

Ditch the summer break, go year round with shorter breaks more frequently, same number of days, less opportunity to loose what has been taught.

Pd — William is (of course) correct about the Good Friday point.

Seems some years ago a few good people got “Offended” about notating a Christian day of Celebration and a national movement caused many calendars of public services to be changed.
Of course, how we celebrate that — or any day — is up to us.
God Bless the United States of America.
