The ‘Midol’ Defense: More Details Released In Century Attempted Murder

October 14, 2015

More details have been released about a shooting incident last Wednesday night that ended with Century man charged with attempted murder and a car full of bullet holes in a Whataburger parking lot. And there were also holes in a potential Midol purchase defense offered by the suspect’s mother.

Akino Jama Jackson, 23, was charged with attempted first degree premeditated murder shooting into an occupied vehicle and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He remains in the Escambia County Jail without bond, awaiting an arraignment hearing on October 30.

According to an Escambia County Sheriff’s Office report, Jackson armed himself with an unknown model and type of firearm and fired eight times into a Dodge Charger, shooting Roosevelt Dixon in the back four times causing serious injuries. Dixon’s girlfriend, Amanda Conner, was in the front passenger seat at the time the shots were fired. She suffered injuries from broken glass but did not seek medical treatment.

At the scene at the Whataburger, Conner told deputies that she had received threatening text messages for the last several weeks from Jackson, her ex-boyfriend. She said the messages included threats about harming her and threats about shooting her car.

Conner told investigators that she and Dixon were at his mother’s residence on Ivey Street in Century, and they had noticed a car in the area that Dixon was concerned about. She said they left the mother’s trailer, eventually turning onto Old Flomaton Road. She said they traveled a short distance when she heard a loud noise followed by a another loud noise during which glass shattered. Dixon told Conner that he had been shot. At this point, they turned the car around, still not seeing the vehicle from which the shots were fired, and headed back to Ivey Street where Dixon got out of the Dodge Charger.

Conner then  headed toward the Century Sheriff’s Precinct on Highway 29 in the Charger, stopping along the way at the Century Whataburger where she observed a deputy on a traffic stop.

An investigator noted finding numerous text messages from Jackson on Conner’s phone making threats to harm her and Dixon and to shoot the vehicle in which they were passengers.

At Whataburger, the investigator was approached by Jackson’s mother who said she knew deputies were looking for him. However, she said Jackson could not have been him because he called her from the Wal-Mart in Ensley near the time of the shooting. She continue to explain that he called her and she asked him purchase Midol. She said he did purchase the drug.

However, the call data she provided was from an outgoing call to Jackson, not an incoming call, according to the arrest report.

An investigator contacted Dixon at Sacred Heart Hospital, and he positively identified Jackson as the person who shot him.  Dixon’s injuries were not considered life threatening.

Investigators were able to obtain transaction reports on the potential Midol purchase, but those purchase were made at 2:20 p.m. and 10:53 p.m. — hours before or after the shooting at about 8 p.m.

Dosent matter if the shooter was positively I dentified. If balistics proves that’s gun was the gun to put wholes in that car that was taken off the convicted felon. He won’t need to be identified. Think about it people

Help? you ask where are the real men? Well most of the time during the day they are at work working a real job, That is what real men do. Some real men work shift work so they can be at work at any time of the day on any given day. Don’t expect a real man to come home after 8, because usually we are working 10,12, or 16 hours. When we get home we don’t feel like hopping in our trucks, yes real men usually drive trucks, not always but usually, that’s just what real men do, and riding around town. We are more likely to be found, during our off work hours, working on things around the house and property, again real men have property not yards, or spending time with our real families. There is absolutely nothing real men came do to fix stupid, we can only try to avoid it. Oh yeah I forgot, some real men are retired. They have put in their time and served their country by giving of themselves to be productive during their early years, so they are properly doing what ever they want, or just resting, and that they should they have earned it.
I really hope this has answered your question!!

I have told NUMEROUS people who, just joking, said something to the effect of “I’m gonna kill you” that if the person to whom the comment was directed turns up dead the primary suspect, at least initially, is gonna be the one who made the threat. It just is not intelligent to say ANYTHING like that, even in jest. It sounds like, maybe, there are MANY lies going on in this event. Ultimately, as I stated in a post on the previous article, and as has been stated today by “T,” the finder of fact will sort this out as any “reasonable person” would. ‘Til then, let’s all sit back and enjoy the show. (And by that I mean all the comments that are sure to be posted along the way.)

If he did or didn’t do it the evidence will prove him innocent or guilty!!! If he didn’t want to b looked at as a suspect then he should have never sent the text messages threatening her and I think when u have somebody calling saying ” hey he was here at this time doing this” that makes me look at u as guilty… But like I said the evidence will speak for itself!!

    REGARDING:
“So if they didn’t see the vehicle from which the shots were fired, how could Dixon positively identifiy Jackson as the person who shot him??
Did anyone else notice this, something doesn’t add up?”

This a case in which she said they DIDN’T see the shooter.

He said he DID see the shooter. (It does say he saw a vehicle which scared him. Unless he is scared of all vehicles, it is reasonable to speculate that he saw something in particular to strike fear. Just remember it is speculation.)

Regardless, remember to NOT announce your intention to murder someone if you wish to avoid being a suspect when some unknown person DOES try to murder them as described. Also, when shooting them in the back, four times may still not be fatal.

    David for better people

Thought they were smart. 2:20 and 10:53….hmmm. it only takes 20 to 30 minutes to get from Century to Molino. He was coached of what to do and say. He still didn’t make the purchase at 8 , the time of the shooting!
    Come with something better….
