Dr. Rodney Lane Lord, 45, died Friday, October 9, 2015.

Dr. Lord was born February 15, 1970, to Barbara Jestings and Johnny Lord.

Dr. Lord began his career in education in Flomaton as a teacher. Dr. Lord moved to Monroe County as a teacher and coach. Dr. Lord later became an assistant principal before later becoming principal of Monroe County Middle School. Dr. Lord then moved to Alabama Southern Community College and was Director of Human Resources while also completing courses at The University of Alabama where he received his Doctorate Degree. Dr. Lord is survived by his mother, Barbara Jestings; father, Johnny (Glenda) Lord, his moms, Nina Puckett and Teresa Smith; two sisters, Tammy (Parnell) Blackwell and Lori (Dean) Mims; three brothers, Danny Lord, Vince (Vicki) Lord, Stan (Stephanie) Smith; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, you may make donations to the American Cancer Society/Patrick F. Taylor Hope Lodge, 2609 River Road, New Orleans, LA 70121.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at 10 a.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Harris officiating.

Burial will follow at the Little Escambia Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Steve Sunday, Jamie Boutwell, Phillip Boutwell, Scott Boutwell, Anthony Boutwell, Keilan Lord, Jeffery Cozgrove and Ken Knowles.

Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes is in charge of all arrangements.
