Have ‘Coffee With A Cop’ This Week In Century

October 18, 2015

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office will host a Coffee With a Cop event this Thursday morning at the Southern Panhandle restaurant in Century.

The Coffee with a Cop event provides an opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about what the ESCO is doing in their neighborhood.

“We hope that community members will feel comfortable to ask questions, bring concerns, or simply get to know our deputies,” said Sheriff David Morgan. “These interactions are the foundation of community partnerships.”

Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by the United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Similar events are being held across the county, as local police departments, sheriff’s offices, and state police forces strive to make lasting connections with the communities they serve. The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between law enforcement and community members one cup of coffee at a time.

Coffee with a Cop will be held Thursday, October 22 at 7 a.m. at the Southern Panhandle restaurant at 8420 North Century Boulevard.

What time does it end? I saw on the websight other events were at different times and places in the community, more reasonable times like 830 til 1100 or 6 to 8 pm. Do they do it through out the year? There on duty 24 hrs, folks in the community are all on various schedules. I support this idea for people and the officers.

I think this is a great idea. Always nice to be able to thank the men and women of law enforcement for the services they render to the community. I don’t know if I can make it, but if I do maybe I’ll pick up a few pastries, too. Yeah, I know Panhandle has breakfast, but everybody likes a little dessert!

@retired: How do people who work days attend an eating engagement at brunch or an afternoon pick me up? I imagine this is being worked around the schedule of the participating officers.

As a LEO ,It would be nice to sit down and have a cup, or a meal , with people who you can relate to, rather than people who have a severe problem with a family, or, neighborhood disaster. Have you ever had an individual ask you for road directions and when you answer them, they tell you how they could get there better? Coffee just got cold. Dang, I just took a 15 minute break! But…..be nice.

That a great idea but 7 AM?? How bout brunch or an after noon pick me up? I do not get up that early anymore. I hope there is a good turn out. I do appreciate ECSO. I am concerned about speeding, littering and of course crime. Thanks for all you do. I hope for an operation clean sweep. Make and keep Century great.
