Century Man Wanted For Attempted Murder Following Bar Shooting

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a Century man on an attempted murder charge follow a  late Sunday night shooting at a Century bar.

Deputies and Escambia County EMS were called to Odom’s Bar on North Century Boulevard at the Alabama state line about 11:50 p.m.

According to witnesses, Kendrick Jamar Washington shot David Darnell McCall following an argument over Washington’s girlfriend. McCall was transported first  by private vehicle to D.W. McMillan Hospital in Brewton and later to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola where he was treated for a gunshot wound to his head.

Washington is a 27-year-old black male who is approximately 5-foot, 10-inches and 190 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, gold teeth and numerous tattoos. He sometimes goes by the alias of Cortez Washington and has several nicknames including “Candyman”, “Trap Star”, and “Gold Mouth”. He is wanted for attempted homicide and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and has a bond of $750,000.

His last known address is 6711 Jefferson Avenue in Century, but he is known to frequent his girlfriend’s home in Foley. Investigators said he may be in the company of his girlfriend, Lauren Ashley Rose New. New is a 20-year-old white female who is approximately 5-foot, 5-inches  and 137 pounds. She is wanted for questioning only in connection with the incident.

Investigators would also like to question 30-year-old D’Antonio Keith Warren of Pensacola in connection with the incident.  The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said it is important to note that New and Warren are wanted for questioning only and are not suspected of any crime at the present.

Anyone with the knowledge of the whereabouts of the three individuals or the incident should call Gulf Coast Crime Stoppers at (850) 433-STOP or the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office at (850) 436-9620.

    Check your facts. That rate may be a statistic based on 100K people. Century is less than the Florida and national average for crime actually. Of course Zero would be a good number. I am concerned also. I want this to be a great small town too.

    Don’t the sheriff office forget walnut hill. It is just as bad here with the drugs and stealing. You have to call Pensacola ,because the so call office is closed on the weekend here.STOP OVERLOOKING US ON THE NORTH END.

    I believe there are more good people and good things in Century than bad. Don’t lose hope I expect an article soon that Washington and others will be apprehended and sentenced. Although this crime hits very close to home and I am not going to live in fear or desperation. I believe these kinds of crimes have happened all over since the beginning of time. I will not bring In the race issue or the welfare issue. It is the responsibility of the individuals involved and they need to be punished for attempted murder. Be a good neighbor, be a good person. There is hope and love on these streets also.

    The poverty level for Century, Fl is 199.6 greater then just the state average and 214.5 greater then the national average. Between murder, rapes, robbery and assault there where 368 of these violent crimes with a population of rough 1600 people and these number are from 2012 so I’m sure they’re up a bit today.

    I do not understand y these boys think they have to pull out guns and shoot each other!!! Just don’t b around the person that u don’t get along with!! I kno the boys that was in the other century shooting and I just don’t get it cause they were suppose to b friends but who knos y they think it’s ok for them to do what they do… I mean they have to kno that “hey if I shoot at this person or hurt this person I’m gonna go to jail” but I guess since they spend most of there life in jail they don’t really care they just say I’ll just go to jail for this do my time and get out and do it over again!!!
    So that’s my thoughts on all the nonsince..
    My prayer are goin out to the person who got shot…

    @Shawn Odom. You’re absolutely right Shawn. This town has become a cesspool. It’s nothing like it was when we were growing up. I wish someone would do something to help clean this place up. Our community leaders, city council, mayor are more worried about installing a splash pad at showalter park than trying to clean our town up and move us forward. You can’t get a job that pays a living wage if you have a family to support. Most of this town lives below the poverty level. There’s no type of industry here anymore and no company wants to bring their business here because of the state of the the town…ie, drugs, crime, poverty. It’s just not a sound business choice and I can’t say I blame them. I’m glad you got away from here. I think that’s basically the only option for anyone at this point. David McCall…I hope you pull through buddy. Everyone please pray for him and this once great community.

    Google this guy, he has been on NE for horse abuse, girlfriend abuse, theft..resisting arrest. Put him away for good too, Two attempted murders by young men in a week. Turn him over if you see him.

    Hello to Escambia county Sheriff’s office…. Please help this helpless community before either everyone is killed or they leave the area or die of drugs. I lived in this city for 28 years of my life before bettering myself and getting the crap away from there. It’s so sad, I get on this site ever so often just to see what’s going on and today I happen to see where a friend of mine that I had grown up with had been shot in the head. I still have family and a few friends that still call this place home and I hope nothing ever happens to them. But at this rate nothing will be left for their kids and grandkids. I ask the question why can’t more be done in this area to make people feel safe is it to much to ask for. Why can’t the city have a local Police department again? Why can’t the County Sheriff beef up deputies to the area and clean this once very friendly and joyful place that I called home for so long?

    @Just Saying. You speak the truth. This country is on a rocket sled to destruction. Classic cases here recently of convicted felons with illegally owned guns. Disarming law abiding citizens only leaves guns to criminals. I say it’s time to arm yourself to protect your property and your person.

    @ Everyone talking about high crime in Century. There is high crime everywhere! When you look on this site not to mention watch the news its not all about Century, FL. There is a home invasion and carjacking suspect that happened in Cantonment. So as everyone has been saying in all these others posts recently about Century being high crime and drugs, I guess Cantonment is full of crime as is Pensacola, Mobile, Molino, and everywhere else. Watch the news people, this happens daily all over the place. The first 15-20 minutes of the evening local newscast is all about murders, child abuse, drugs, etc. This is what society is coming to. It is sad but true.
