Kickoff Set As Greater Escambia Relay Moved From Tate To Fairgrounds

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Greater Escambia will officially get underway Tuesday as event volunteers and participants gather for a “Purple Passion Kickoff Rally”. The event will be held at 6 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church on Highway 297A in Cantonment as fundraising efforts for the year are launched and preparations are made to move the event from Tate High School to the fairgrounds.
Although the Relay For Life of Greater Escambia is over seven months away, organizers say now is the time to get involved. One in every 100 Americans participates in this fundraising event that has become a global phenomenon. Residents are invited to attend the kickoff celebration for dinner, to learn more about the upcoming event and how they can become part of an exciting Relay that will “Paint Our World Purple”.
Donations can be made to this local Relay For Life event by visiting RelayForLife.org. Community members can also start or join a team by following the links to their local Relay event.
The 2016 Relay For Life of Greater Escambia will take place on April 30, 2016, at the Pensacola Fairgrounds from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. For more information about the kickoff event or on how to become involved, contact Pat Clements at (850) 776-2944.

Why was it moved from Tate High School? I know last year it was last minute due to weather, but the stadium venue was awesome and very accommodating!
