Escambia Man Arrested For Soliciting Minor

September 29, 2015

An Escambia County man has been arrested after arranging what he thought was a meeting with a teen for sex.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement, along with agents from the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations, and detectives from the Pensacola Police Department arrested Dennis Kevin Marks, 53, on three counts of online solicitation of a child, one count of traveling to meet a minor for sex, and one count of unlawful use of a two-way communications device.

Marks was arrested after traveling to meet an undercover FDLE special agent who he believed was a 14-year-old juvenile for sex. Marks had been communicating with the undercover agent by email and text messages since mid-August.

Marks was booked into the Escambia County Jail on $45,000 bond.

OK let’s say this guy was talking to a kid @14yrs old n not a cop..let’s say that kids mom or dad catches him with their kid n gives him a bullet to the face. I would bet their bond would be more than $45000. And the moral is that its better to molest a kid than to protect them from monsters like this… I vote no bond for pedifiles until found innocent of the crime accused of them

Remember, bond is to make sure they show up for court. It is not intended as punishment.

Second, people are sent to prison AS punishment. Not to be punished by other inmates.

I’m all for locking these guys up, and have sent several there myself. But we don’t let inmates carry out their version of justice on them. We are supposed to be better than that.

DONT MATTER IF HE IS IN JAIL OR NOT, THEY PROTECT THESE CHILD MOLESTERS IN JAIL AND PRISON AND IF YOU TRY TO HURT THEM YOU GET IN TROUBLE…. SMH

@Rachel, it said nothing about a girl. He could have been meeting what he thought was a boy. People tend to forget young boys are victims too of this type thing.

Why give people like this a bond at all? They should just remain in jail until a hearing.

$45,000 bond… Really why does he even have a chance to walk out of the jail!?! To try to find another young girl… Makes no sense at all.. Thank God this time it was a officer cause when he makes bond I am sure he will find another till his court date!! Wake up put these pervs away!!!
