Archie Milton Condon

Archie Milton Condon, 83 of Cantonment, went home to be with his Lord and his “Babe” on September 13, 2015. He was born on May 8, 1932, in Grants Pass, Oregon. He joined the Air Force on April 26, 1951. He was in field maintenance and become an airplane diesel mechanic. He served in the Korean and the Vietnam Wars before he retired from Eglin Air Force Base as a TSGT E6 on June 1, 1972.

He married his true love, Betty Marie Ray, on April 21, 1955. They spent 59 years together traveling the world and raising their children and grandchildren. In recent years Archie has been cared for by his loving daughter and son-in-law Georgette and Dean Harris.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty M. Condon; his mother, Berdetta P. Smith; and two children, Floyd M. Condon and Ethel M. Carmichael.

Archie is survived by his children, Georgette (Dean) Harris of Cantonment, Donald (Maureen) Condon of Shelburne,VT, Carolyn Hensley of Oak Hills, CA; and one sister, Billie Marie Jacoby of Wichita, KS.

Archie loved life and was a true and faithful friend to all who knew him. He loved classic country music with Hank Williams, Sr. being his favorite. He taught himself how to play the guitar and he loved a good pick ‘n’ and singin’. He also enjoyed a good western movie and he loved to watch John Wayne. Archie also loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a member of and sang in the choir at Farm Hill Methodist Church.

Archie will be sorely missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting him and his forever saying: “Don’t sweat the small stuff and the big stuff will take care of itself.”

Graveside services were held Friday, September 18, 2015, at Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors.

Faith Chapel Funeral Home North is in charge of arrangements.
