Schools Need Correct Student Addresses, Phone Numbers

August 9, 2015

The Escambia County School District is asking parents to ensure that their child’s school has current home addresses and phone numbers on file. If any of the information has changed, even if the child lives in the same school zone, information should be updated now.

Correct information ensures that school bus routes are planned effectively and used to make sure automated School Messengers calls are correctly delivered.

For more information or to update records, parents should contact their child’s school.

    Candy,
If a child takes any regularly prescribed med —-or a inhaler for asthma— or epi stick for example, the parent brings it to the clinic to drop off with staff. I believe there is paperwork parent signs as well. The tech administers med to child. If the child goes on field trip inhalers /epi pens go with staff, the RN ( not tech) comes to our classroom and gives teachers inservice on how to administer these devices. If we go on 2 trips, we get a second visit. I feel pretty good about our clinic staff.

I see children in the clinic all the time why would they not be allowed to go? If that happens with your child talk to the principal.

The whole cell phone thing is a blessing and a curse. I know in elementary the kids are not to have them turned on while on campus…….

Glad i don’t have kid’s in school anymore. If i did, before long i’d have to be scanning the computer chip imbedded in my hand to pick my kid up. Oops, NOT supposed to be talking about that.

Yes please and thank you very much. Makes the first crazy week of school so much easier when we know who should be on the bus and where they are getting off. I would add to Susans comment, parents please be on time! Remember, yours isnt the only kiddo on the bus. If you are ten minutes late getting your little ine, and the next parent is late, and so on, then the bus is late for everyone after. Then, late for the next school, etc. Thanks in advance. :-D

Wow Susan you seem to know a lot about how this works maybe you know what parents can do if they have a child with medication needs get their meds before it turns into an emergency situation. Are they going to be allowed to go to the clinic this year when sick. Maybe they can use their own cell phones. My phone has always worked when I’m needed to volunteer for something maybe it can work for the clinic.

You must go in person to update any records, don’t forget your I.d. The school has no idea who they are speaking to on the phone. While you are at it PLEASE list anyone who may be picking up your child …..they won’t be handing over your child to your cousin’s best friend’s aunt unless their name is on the card. Who, btw, will need their I.d. when picking up. No you cannot just call and tell them your cousin’s best friend’s aunt will pick up your child that day.

And if you could register your child before the first day of school that would be awesome.

Ever noticed how they can reach you by phone but if you need to reach them by phone you can not.

Parents cannot just call the school they have to provide proof of residency if they have moved. I tried that and I was told NO!
