I came through that intersection some time back and I watched through my rear view mirror. There were seven cars coming off the side road Not one stopped at the sign.

I agree with Pastor Jason completely. The speed limit is too high for this area. This was a very dangerous intersection for years before there was ever a cell phone. There have been many bad accidents there.

Yeah, That is right … PUT UP ANOTHER LIGHT ….. DUMB IDEA. If people would pay attention, slow down, get off phones there would not be a problem with that stretch of road. They put up a light at the HWY 97 turnoff which was STUPID since that BIG intersection is WIDE OPEN and everyone approaching that intersection can see what is coming BUT oh no stupid people who are in a hurry and can’t seem to wait that 5 or 10 seconds to make the turn without causing accidents is the PROBLEM. People in this town run lights like they are not even there and no light is going to help when people do not obey what is already in place to protect us all. Had a young man about 10 years ago run the Molino STOP SIGN and RED BLINKING / FLASHING LIGHT and hit my son broadside as he was coming down HWY 29 so NO LIGHT is going to fix the problem. Florida needs to outlaw texting and talking on phones IF we want this kind of things to stop. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for YOUR actions !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s easy to say “get off your phones” or “pay attention” but a light would simply protect the innocent person who is abiding the law when someone else pulls out in front of them. Most people who cross this intersection and get into an accident think they have enough time to make it when they actually don’t. I live a mile away and would love to see a light at this intersection and the Hwy 29/ Barrineau Park Rd. intersection. Why not if it’s going to make it safer?

If they can’t see another car, what makes you think that the people traveling in all directions will see a light? The last time that I checked, a car is larger than a light.

I am so glad everyone is ok!! I witnessed this horrible accident,it happened right before my eyes! Still shook up over it! I stayed with the 22 yr old girl till help arrived! I got her cell phone from her car to call her husband to let him know what happened. She was headed home from work when someone pulled out in front of her. This is so sad I am glad the injuries were not as bad as they could have been. People need to open their eyes and pay attention! Praying for this girl and her family!

Hanging a traffic light at every intersection will not solve the issue. If you are going to drive, then drive. Leave the cell phones, car stereo alone. Pay attention to what’s going on.

We do not need a light. People need to pay attention and get off their phones. You cannot put a light up at every intersection people.

I work next to this intersection. I hear a loud bang almost on a weekly or monthly basis. the problem is not necessarily those of us who live around Molino. the problem is that there are thousands of people who do not understand just how dangerous that intersection is. the speed limit is 55 but most people especially those traveling on vacation or business are in a hurry and Molino is just a dot on the map to get to where they are trying to go. a light would be a good tool but lowering the speed limit between tom thumb and frans would help also. If the speed limit lowered from 55 to 45 in the Molino area it would give people more of a reaction time and help lower the chance of a fatality. Every time I hear a bang from inside the store I know what it is and where it came from…..I have instructed my family to never go straight at that intersection and to never try going straight across…that is where most of the accidents come from…..pastor jason

Or people can learn how to drive and pay attention.

glad no one was seriously injured. It’s hard to judge the speed people are traveling coming down hwy 29. Before you know it they’re on top of you. Don’t shoot the gap. Look twice before you pull out onto the highway, it may be your life you save. Every time there’s a wreck are we going to ask for traffic light? At this end of the county a light at every intersection it will take 3+ hours to get to work. Leave at 3am?

I use this intersection daily an must have missed this accident by seconds. I do not think there needs to be a light. As long as you are cautious and patient there is no issue. Completely stop at signs, look all ways, MERGE, and accelerate accordingly

I agree with Matt. It needs a light. How many people have to be hurt or die to get it?

  15. Matt on August 10th, 2015 7:34 pm

There needs to be a red light at this intersection also. It’s hard to see traffic coming southbound on 29 when coming off of Molino rd. because of the incline looking towards jimmy’s grill. Anyone getting hit in the northbound lane just isn’t paying attention. Very easy to see northbound traffic from either side of the intersection.
