Man Struck By Train In Century
August 14, 2015
A adult male was airlifted to the hospital this morning after being struck sometime overnight by a train in Century.
The engineer on a passing CSX train noticed the 62-year old man on the ground next to the tracks about 5:40 a.m. behind Burger King, just south of the McCurdy Street crossing. He had apparently been hit by an earlier passing train while on the tracks.
The man was transported by ambulance to the Century EMS Post and then airlifted by LifeFlight to a Pensacola hospital as a “trauma alert”. He was reportedly suffering from a head injury. No update on his condition was available.
The man’s identity has not yet been released.

A lot of the people that walk the tracks are drunk band that’s so sad, I pray for him and his family. God bless
8000 ton train with several box cars in tow. Horns, bright lights. Now if you can’t see, hear, or even feel the vibration from this; I don’t know what else to say.
Thanks for the obvious warning. I highly doubt ECSO is waiting at the CSX tracks to place folks under arrest. I believe they have more pressing matters.
I see countless number of people walking on the tracks here, let alone folks that don’t stop at the crossings, especially when trains approach. I hope this incident will wake up the individuals that thinks it’s okay to use the tracks as a shortcut to go to the store or to a friends house, or wherever. Walking on the tracks as use of a shortcut is not okay. Not only is it dangerous, it’s illegal. Either face death or go to jail, your choice no one else’s. It’s common sense people, to not walk on the tracks, especially when a train comes.
How awful! I sure hope he will be ok. Prayers for him and his family.
