August 19, 2015
A traffic crash Tuesday afternoon in Brewton claimed the life of a Flomaton man.
According to authorities, 56-year old Jimmy Wayne Cash was southbound on Highway 31 just south of College Drive in a 1991 Ford Ranger when, for an unknown reason, he rear-end a 2003 Chevrolet pickup. Cash was transported to D.W. McMillan Hospital in Brewton where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the second pickup, Steven Smith of Graceville, was not seriously injured.
The accident remains under investigation by the Brewton Police Department.

I grew up with Jimmy, and Barney or Antny as Jimmy would call him. We all lived in Bluff Springs. Our summers were filled with horse back riding, swimming in the creek , and gravel lakes, corn cob wars in the loft of the barn an occasional wrestling match in someone’s front yard, and grilled cheese sandwiches. If you were ever at their house at lunch time Mrs. Cash would insist on you eating lunch with them. I remember the grilled cheese because when I was there Jimmy was the one doing the grilling. Years later we played basketball together on church team. Like all of us in life things change we grew up had families and lost touch, but I well always remember him as an individual who enjoyed life and was forever smiling. Rest in peace Jimmy and may the comforting hand of God be on the Cash family during this time.
