Bill Would Restrict Trying On ‘Intimate Apparel’

August 9, 2015

A Senate Democrat is renewing an attempt to place restrictions on people who try on underwear and swimsuit bottoms in retail stores. Sen. Geraldine Thompson, D-Orlando, filed a bill (SB 104) this week that would prevent retailers from allowing customers to try on “intimate apparel” unless the items are tried on over clothing or disposable shields are used.

If customers fail to comply, tried-on items would be considered defective and could not be sold by the stores.

The bill, which will be considered during the 2016 legislative session, defines intimate apparel as including “lower undergarments and swimsuit bottoms.”

Thompson proposed a nearly identical bill during the 2015 legislative session but it died in a Senate committee.

Darn….I had always wanted to open up a “Rent to Own” lingerie shop. Well, best laid plans of mice and men. Probably just go fishing.

This does seem trivial to the “clean” and “properly” taught of us, however, there are some (actually the majority nowadays) VERY nasty uneducated dirtballs around. I worked in a place that sold bathingsuits…gross and scary. Basically ANY disharge a person can produce from that area (all 6) I have seen in some “bottoms”. But just remember you can’t catch a VD from a toilet seat..ha.ha!

I thought that was already a law. Stores do not let people do this.

Sheesh…as it is, you can’t return a swimsuit. If you can’t even try it on before purchasing, ummm, how does anyone know if it fits. Over the underwear has always been taught and it’s posted in most fitting rooms. So basically they’re saying a consumer cannot try it on to see if it fits but if you purchase it and it doesn’t fit you can’t return it. This makes ZERO sense. There’s enough governmental crap to worry about without going in to the dang fitting rooms.

Solutions that mean you don’t have to worry:

Go skinny dippin’ at the river, and go commando everywhere else!

Wow…what about making a law requiring all public places to have disposable liners for toilets…that’s a little more important. Do your job on the more important issues in senate

Of ALL the things for the government to worry about! I’ve always been told to try things on OVER my underwear and I teach my girls the same thing. What are they going to do to enforce this……….put a dressing room attendant in every dressing room. I guess that WOULD give people jobs.

How are you gonna enforce good hygiene if one didn’t learn it as a child? You cant fix stupid nor can u enforce good hygiene on others. Either you have it or you don’t. I’d think a law requiring restaurant workers to wash their hands after using the restroom would be more important. Btw who doesn’t wash intimates before u wear them?Ewww

LOL! Man, if they have time to worry about something like this, we all need to become politicians! :D
