Escambia Caregiver Arrested For Medicare Fraud

July 18, 2015

Attorney General Pam Bondi’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, with the assistance of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Friday arrested Gloria Michal’le Hardaway, 25, for allegedly defrauding the Florida Medicaid program out of more than $5,500.

According to the investigation, Hardaway, a caregiver working in Escambia County, failed to report to her employer that she had previously been arrested for Medicaid fraud, making her ineligible to work in the health care field or submit reports for Medicaid billings.

On March 31, 2014, Hardaway was arrested and charged with Medicaid fraud and grand theft. She entered a plea of nolo contendere and was sentenced to probation with a special condition that prohibited her from working in the health care field.

Hardaway is charged with one count of Medicaid fraud and faces up to five years in prison and up to $32,000 in fines, and restitution. William “Bill” Eddins, Office of the State Attorney for the First Judicial Circuit, will prosecute the case.

I wonder how many more are doing this? I bet if they were all caught it would save medicare quite a bit of money! Anything that defrauds medicare or the elderly/disabled should carry very stiff mandatory penalties! Why was she let off easily the last time? Obviously she is a repeat offender.

Come on… it’s just “free” money – get yourself some! The only problem here is that this is just the tip of the iceberg. Thanks Pam Bondi and Bill Eddins for going after these cases.
