Molino Man Charged With DUI After Crash With Deputy
July 27, 2015
A Molino man was jailed for DUIĀ after causing a traffic accident with an Escambia County Sheriff’s sergeant Monday morning in Cantonment.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 24-year old Douglas Joseph Hadley was traveling east on Muscogee Road in a 1996 Ford Windstar van when he made a wide right turn onto Highway 29 and into the path of a marked Escambia County Sheriff’s Office 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe.
Sgt. Marc Dewees received minor injuries in the crash. Hadley was not injured. Both were wearing their seat belts.
Hadley was charged with DUI and possession of a controlled substance by the Florida Highway Patrol and booked into the Escambia County Jail with bond set at $4,000.
A spokesperson for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said Dewees was “doing fine” and that his injuries were not severe.

Wow, did not break the headlights! Those ECSD Suburbans are nice. A new fender & hood, that’s gonna be about 3-4 grand at least I bet. Mr. Hadley will be making restitution for that no doubt.
Yeah, a reeeaall wide right turn, lol.

“Yes, Virginia, there ARE things more dangerous than a drunk driver.
A perfectly sober religious zealot @ the controls of a highjacked airliner immediately comes to mind.”
.
One on one, maybe, but the number willing and able to kill with a hijacked jetliner is far lower than the number willing and able to drive a car impaired.
Thus, the fatalities mostly come from DUIs, self-created stupids.
David for self-driving cars
and the death penalty to any who would hack them
Glad no one got hurt in this situation, what is sad about this a DUI stays on your driving record for 75 years so if this guy ever plans on getting a good job somewhere that would require a back ground check he is screwed.
Just wish people would think about this before they start drinking and driving.
Dont go around the river if you cant sober up enough to leave it!

Your rhetorical hyperbole is a trifle overwrought.
(NOT understating impaired drivers’ impact [yes, that is an intended pun~!], I’m just saying that wild exaggeration, while fun & amusing for some, really doesn’t do justice to the facts.)
Does Marc get the credit for the DUI arrest?
I knew the driver either was drunk or had a case of road rage when he made the turn onto 29, almost hit the vehicle in the turn lane on 29 and then over corrected right into the path of the Deputy’s SUV. Thankfully, the years of driving have given me the wisdom to watch for the idiots on the road…sometimes they can’t be avoided but most of the time they can. I managed to stop in the intersection before I hit that idiot. Unfortunately, for the Deputy, this was one of those times it couldn’t be avoided. There was nothing the Deputy could do not to hit him. Deputy Dewees, if you need my testimony to help with a conviction, just let me know. There is nothing more dangerous than a drunk driver, no matter what time of day it is.
Glad you are doing good Marc!
Well Joe, maybe this is your wake-up call. Your just a young buck so you have the time and opportunity to put the foolishness behind you. Just keep your head down, mouth shut, and keep moving forward with a positive attitude.
Jail is a big IQ test, if you are there you have failed!
easy DUI arrest there. Heck, he came TO the officer with that one…….no traffic stop, no chase, just a fender-bender. Huh, just glad that the officer wasn’t injured.
I guess he saved them the trouble of looking for him.
