Driver Hits Power Pole Near Walnut Hill

There were no injuries when a driver lost control near Walnut Hill Sunday morning and slammed into a power pole.

The accident happened about 8:50 a.m. on South Highway 99 near Eicher Road. The driver stated she was attempting to avoid a deer when she ran off the roadway. The collision broke a power pole.

An unknown number of Escambia River Electric Cooperative customers were expected to lose power during the repair.

The accident is under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. The Walnut Hill Station of Escambia Fire Rescue also responded.

    PLEASE PEOPLE…TAKE NOTE…DO NOT SWERVE FOR A DEER. You will flip ur car, hit a POLE, or worse. Brake the best u can and hit the darn deer ALREADY, you’ll do less damage that way. I should know, I’ve had 8 of them run out and hit me.
