Cottage Hill Shooting Under Investigation

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to search for clues, and a suspect, in a shooting Wednesday night in Cottage Hill.

A young man was shot multiple times inside his vehicle, possibly at the intersection of Virecent Road and Cottage Hill Road Wednesday night.  The man then drove himself to a nearby home in the 400 block of Crowndale Court. He was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, including a reported gunshot to the face.

A passenger in the vehicle was uninjured and unable to provide any solid details on the shooting, according to Sgt. Ted Roy, spokesman for the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.

As of early Thursday morning, the unknown suspect remained at large.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call CrimeStoppers at (850) 433-STOP.

    I wonder why they were ambushed. People don’t usually just stand around in this area.

    This is my friend , he was ambushed so how would they give details if they couldn’t see ? If you have anything else to say about him feel free to let me know

    The boy that was uninjured was on the opposite side of the car in the pitch black…he couldn’t see who was at the window of the small car they were in. When bullets started flying, they took off. The driver was shot in the face and intent on getting somewhere safe so identifying shooter was probably not first thing on his mind. They are both 18 yr old kids that just graduated….good kids. I know the driver very well and hate to see all the speculation on here. That’s what happens every time something like this happens though….everyone puts in their theory. The boy who was shot is going to be ok but it will be a long road of recovery as he was shot in his legs as well. Thank God he lived through it. He is loved by a lot of people and the world wouldn’t be quite as good without him in it. If the person who shot him sees this, shame on you. How could you shoot someone like that? His life is just starting…..you ruined yours too (if they can find you)..God knows what you did though. A lady told me a bible verse yesterday about whatever happens in the dark always comes to light. Well, you hid in the dark and ambushed two kids so I hope God helps bring it to light. You don’t deserve to be on the streets.

    Maybe they will remember something, like if there was another vehicle around…a person on foot,,,,,a bike……a horse….more than one…… I sure hope they do

    Seriously people the boy got shot and the passenger may not be injured but he is probably shocked by what happened. (I mean I would be) cut them some slack. its not their job to give all details and to solve the crime. that’s the cops.

    If the victim and the passenger can’t provide those details, the Sheriff’s Office does not know those detail to tell the media to tell you. :)

    Passed by this way on Cottage Hill Rd to Virecent at 8:45pm, minutes after it happened. It was quiet and dark, nothing to indicate to me that multiple shots were just fired in front of 4 occupied homes.

    “So now I have to worry about this scum running loose” NO – this incident is most likely a warning for a specific individual – probably drug related.

    This is fishy…there’s hardly any crime in Cottage Hill. I ran those streets from 1986 til I moved in 2009…and never was I ever worried about something like this happening. What surprises me is that no details bit…NE please keep us updated because something isn’t right about this.
