Three Bikers Injured In Memorial Day Ride Crash

May 25, 2015

Three people on a Memorial Day motorcycle ride were injured when they lost control and crashed north of Molino Monday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 34-year old Joseph R. Gobeil of Smiths Station, AL, was northbound on Highway 29 approaching Barth Road on his 2013 Victory motorcycle. The rear tire of his motorcycle hydroplaned, causing it to overturn as it left the roadway and entered theĀ  median.

Shawn R. McGlone, age 28 of Phenix City, AL, was also traveling northbound on a 2006 Harley Davidson. He attempted to swerve and miss Gobiel. McGlone landed in the inside northbound land of Highway 29. McGlone was then struck by a 2009 Harley Davidson driven by 30-year old Ryan J. Parkansky of Phenix City, causing Parkansky’s Harley to overturn.

Gobeil received minor injuries. Parkansky also received minor injuries and was transported to Jay Hospital. McGlone was seriously injured and transported by ambulance to Jay Hospital.

Gobeil was cited for failure to use due care, according to the FHP

These guys are part of the same group of veterans who participated in the Memorial Day events at the Wall South (covered in another article on this site). I’m praying for healing and quick, smooth recovery for these men who traveled so far to honor those who gave their lives for us. Thank you, Vietnam Veterans MC.

Joe- Many prayers to you and your brothers. It happens so quick and sometimes unavoidable. Ride well and be safe when back out.

Side-by-side Easyriders style looks cool, but is more dangerous than it’s worth. Obviously a good thing these guys were not two up with their ladies when this occurred. Helmets, boots, gloves, leathers (at least a jacket), & eye protection a must, no excuses or exceptions.

Cool bikes, appreciate your service vets! Wishing a speedy recovery for Mr. McGlone.

Wow, I’m so glad it was not worse. It tells us that the ones that believe in us with their service and honor for their country, is being taken care of by someone stronger then us. Bless you and THANK YOU!!

Joe, thanks for updating the injury results. So thankful it wasn’t worse. Thank you for honoring the fallen ones with the ride to the Wall. We were unable to ride this year. Just glad your friend is alive and that things weren’t worse. Proof that experienced riders who are riding safely can live through a bike accident. The young inexperienced ones just have no idea how quickly something can happen.

Thank you lord for watching over our brothes and sisters in their time of need. Glad everyone gets to see another day.

I was unfortunate to be part of that pack. The minimal damage was due to experienced riders who avoided a more significant tragedy. Our brother taken to the hospital will live but his injuries are serious. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers..

Glad nobody was seriously hurt. I feared the worse when we came around the bend and seen all the lights.

I’m so thankful everyone is alive & no life threatening injuries. I rode by this accident today & had a sense that it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. Thank God for the protection he provided. We love our Armed Forces. Thank you to those who are serving. Thank you to those who have served. Finally, all honor to those who gave it all!
